FSS 6 and FSS 7 News from the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club

G.I. Joe Collector's Club FSS 6 roster

The G.I. Joe Collector’s Club released an update regarding G.I. Joe FSS 6 and FSS 7 yesterday afternoon:

Hello Members,

Here are our latest updates:

FSS 6.0 has landed on the west coast but is not here yet. We expect it in the next 10 days or so.

In the meantime, if you have moved since this summer, please update your shipping address here.

In addition, you can use the same link to confirm that your correct credit card (installment only customers) is on file. We won’t set the billing date until they are here but it is still anticipated to be the beginning of December.

FSS 7.0 figure previews and order period will start next week and end December 4. You will all be very excited about the coming figures. These should ship starting in the Spring, just after FSS 6.0 concludes.

Convention information will be released in early January with registration starting in mid-January.

Thanks for your support!

Brian

Well, well, well… it seems that we could see FSS 6 hitting subscriber mailboxes before Thanksgiving!  Now that’s a great way to start off the 2017 Holiday Season for Joe fans!

Even more compelling, we’ll start to see FSS 7 previews next week.  At Joe Con 2017, we found out the identities of only two members of the roster: Shattered Glass Tomax and Crystal Ball.  This means we’re going to have the reveal of a whopping TEN MORE FIGURES!  As for the rest of the FSS 7 roster– it’s anyone’s guess.  Will there be more Ninja Force?  Action Force?  Could Night Force Sneak Peek actually happen?  What about Hardball whose weapon was reissued as part of the Force of Battle convention souvenirs?

(It also means that JBL staff have to get off their collective keester and POST the rest of the FSS 5 reviews!  SLACKERS!!!)

For those of you wanting a refresher, here’s the full roster for FSS 6:

Designer Bobby Vala interviewed at Hasbro Pulse

Hasbro Pulse has a brand new article posted – an interview with designer Bobby Vala.  The subject?  The Cobra Missile Command Headquarters!

Cobra Missile Command Headquarters mockupI’m not going to lie– I LOVE the Cobra Missile Command Headquarters.  First, I ranted about it here on JBL. In addition, I raved about it over on Just Another G.I. Joe Show.  It’s been a “Holy Grail” item for me for years and this year’s convention exclusive release was essentially a dream come true.  (Save for its limited availability- but that’s a story for another time.) Yet, I found myself wondering “Why this playset?  Why now?”

In a rare opportunity, this admin was able to sit down and discuss this iconic playset and the process of its reconstruction with Hasbro designer Bobby Vala.  He discusses the process of recreating this iconic piece of A Real American Hero history as well as the process of updating the included figures to modern specs.  Bobby’s passion for this project shines through in every answer. As a result, it’s obvious that this was truly a labor of love!

Check it out over on Hasbro Pulse!  Plus, if you’d like to see more features like this, let us know in the comments below!

Support the Girls of the Finest 2018 Calendar

The Girls of the Finest return with a brand new 2018 calendar project!

Girls of the Finest

It’s that time of year– when the talented costumers of the Girls of the Finest put their needles, thread, time, and talent toward a project that aims to give back to our men and women in uniform!   Since 2015, these cosplay artists have produced an amazing G.I. Joe-themed calendar showcasing your favorite ARAH-era femme fatales.  From Scarlett, to Zarana, the Baroness to the Cobra PR Officer– supporters have been treated to 12 months of images that inspire the imagination!  However, there’s more to this annual calendar drive than just some terrific wall art.  This is a calendar project that aims to give back to those who need our support.

K9s for WarriorsOnce again, the lovely ladies of Finest are raising funds for K9’s for Warriors, an organization dedicated to providing service dogs for veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and/or military sexual trauma as a result of service post 9/11.  The organization recognizes the healing power of animal therapy and how the emotional bond formed between a veteran and a therapy dog can help these brave warriors overcome the trauma they incurred while in the line of duty.

Seriously– I can’t encourage people enough to support this project.  These talented ladies give up their time and talent to support a project that not only helps the men and women of our armed forces but also helps provide homes for animals in need.  It’s a no-brainer– a one-two punch that truly brings some comfort to those who put themselves on the line for us each and every day.

As of now, the project has 23 days remaining and is 58% funded!  This is an all-or-nothing project which means that calendars won’t go into production and no funds will be send to K9’s for Warriors unless it reaches its goal of $8,500.00.  A simple pledge of $25.00 will secure a copy of the printed calendar, a set of trading cards, and a postcard!  It’s a STEAL of a deal that helps support a great cause!

Support the Girls of the Finest 2018 Calendar Project today!  Plus follow these costumers and track all of their appearances over on the Girls of the Finest Facebook page!

broken f5 button

“And there came a day unlike any other…”

No, we’re not talking about the first ever team-up of Marvel’s Avengers! Monday is going to be Summer Exclusives Day at HasbroToyShop.com.  That’s right– it’s that “magical time” (Read: FRUSTRATING) day in which fans from across the world will all be hitting HasbroToyShop.com and using their F5 keys to refresh their browsers in order to get the items they want.

Have no fear, Joe fans!  While we don’t know WHEN everything is going to drop– we do now WHAT the URL’s of the exclusive items will be.  To save yourself some time and some hasty item searches, here are all of the items and the pricepoints on each that will be dropping on Monday:

You can also see the FULL ITEM LIST if you’re looking for more than one item.

NOTE: Each item appears to be limited to 2 per household. (Save for the Magic set and Optimus Prime which is 1 per household.)

Good luck to everyone who is hitting the site tomorrow.  May you all get everything that you’re after!

SDCC G.I. Joe exclusives available 8/14 at HasbroToyShop

SDCC 2017 is in full swing and G.Hasbro’s annual G.I. Joe exclusives are very much on everyone’s mind!  However, it would seem that those of us who are stuck at home know just when the sought-after comic con items will be dropping on HasbroToyShop.com.

Yesterday, two product listings were quietly added to the website.

Included in each product description was the note “available 8/14”.  Apparently that day, the second Monday in August, will be when fans from around the globe will be hitting the site, frantically hitting F5 to refresh their screens in the hopes of completing their transactions before the items sell out. While the exclusives of the past few years have been pretty easy to obtain, there’s something about this year’s two G.I. Joe-related SDCC items that feels very different.

Hasbro IDW Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set

I’m not going to lie– I’m giddy over the prospect of BOTH of these sets, for very different reasons.  Nostalgia plays a heavy hand in my love for both sets but I’d be hard-pressed right now to choose one over the other if I had to prioritize dropping one in my cart first.  One one had there’s the AMAZING recreation/update to the Cobra Missile Command Headquarters but on the other hand there’s the IDW Hasbro Comic Crossover Mega-Set that includes Renegades Roadblock, ROM the Space Knight, and the Micronauts.  Decisions, decisions.

Regardless, August 14th is the day to put on your calendars kids!

And now you know…

Hasbro Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set SDCC Exclusive

The Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set is coming to San Diego Comic Con 2017!

Hasbro IDW Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set

Sweet Colton’s Ghost!  Just when you thought that we’d seen and heard all that there was to know about the future of G.I. Joe this year Entertainment Weekly dropped a MOAB of exclusive news.  Debuting this year at San Diego Comic Con and available at both Canda’s Fan Expo and then eventually at HasbroToyShop.com, the IDW Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set isn’t just a long name– it’s a $99.00 box of so much epic goodness that this long-time toy fan doesn’t know where to start.  Seriously…

Hasbro IDW Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set

Inspired by the debut miniseries of IDW’s Hasbro Shared Universe, this set includes something from EACH of the brands that will comprise the forthcoming Hasbro Cinematic Universe.  That’s right Children of the 80’s, the Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set includes all of the following:

Seriously… all of this for a whopping $99!  That’s it!  This is a CRAZY good deal.

I’m not going to lie– as far as this toy collector is concerned there isn’t one single weak spot in the Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set.  Seriously.  I’m old enough to remember both ROM and the Micronauts when they were at retail the first time around. I have a real soft spot for Jetfire as both a Transformers and a Robotech fan.  The new incarnation of M.A.S.K. intrigues me.  While I have no nostalgia whatsoever for Visionaries I like the design of Leoric.

Oh yeah, and then there’s RENEGADES FREAKING ROADBLOCK!!!

Seriously– this set is a virtual love letter to the fans of all of Hasbro’s now in-house properties.  I’m not going to lie– between this and the Cobra Missile Command Headquarters reissue I’m going to be wearing out the F5 key when these drop on HasbroToyShop.

Seriously– to all involved at Hasbro, THANK YOU for the Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set.  You’ve made this child of the 80’s very happy indeed!

Joe Con 2017: Is a Hardball release in the near future?

Could a Collector’s Club release of fan favorite 1988 Joe Hardball be coming in the near future?

Joe Con 2017 is in full swing now and last night’s souvenir pickup for attendees provided a slew of images of this year’s exclusive figures.  Among those items is Corrosao, inspired by the Brazilian repaint of Battle Force 2000 team member Dee-Jay, from the Ultimate Enemies 2-pack.  Normally, in cases like this, all eyes are focused on the figure but in this case, it’s the accessory that caught my eye.

Does that large blue grenade launcher look familiar?  Take a good look– it should:

G.I. Joe Repeater and Hardball

That’s right, Joe fans!  Corrosao is packing a freshly-tooled blue version of Hardball’s signature grenade launcher!  Given the Collector’s Club’s penchant for never using a newly-tooled part just once, this is a pretty strong indicator that Hardball could FINALLY be seeing a return to action figure format!  This could mean that our 1988 roster is getting that much closer to completion in the generation 3 construction.

Now, this begs the question: where would he fall into the Club’s release schedule?  FSS 7.0?  Annual membership renewal figure?  Joe Con 2018 convention set?  Hopefully we’ll find out the answer to this at tomorrow’s Collector’s Club Round Table panel.

Regardless, this is one of the most exciting bits of potential news to come out of Joe Con 2017 thus far, at least to this Joe fan!

Joe Con 2017 coverage

Joe Con 2017 Day 2 is now one for the history books!  However, we’ve got a bit to talk about in today’s Armchair Coverage recap.

To start– let’s talk souvenir items!  Thanks to Mike Tinnel of Just Another G.I. Joe Show we received an update to last night’s story about the souvenir item list.  This included confirmation and pricing for all of the items.

  • BF 2000 Vector Jet (repainted Conquest) – $132.00
  • Cobra Sky Serpent w/Pilot (rumored to be a Black Dragon VTOL) – $95.00
  • BF 2000 Marauder Snowmobile 2 Pack (repainted Polar Battle Bears) – $64.00
  • Cobra Laser Vipers 3 Pack (concept case version from a few years ago) – $80.00
  • Ultimate Enemies 2 Pack (two pack of DeeJay and his Brazilian repaint Corasao, an Eco-Warriors foe) – $58.00
  • Cobra B.A.T. Rocket Glider 2 Pack (rumored to be the Cobra Jet Pack) – $58.00

However, Mike has also posted a quick video look at the souvenir figures including Dee-Jay, Corrosao, and the Cobra Laser Viper:

Has anyone noticed that Corrosao seems to be carrying HARDBALL’S launcher!!!  Could this be a hint at FSS 7?!!! Continue reading

Joe Con 2017: Souvenir list and first look at the set

Joe Con 2017 coverage

Joe Con 2017 has begun and the golden ticket holders have picked up their sets. Thanks to Mike Tinnel of Just Another G.I. Joe Show, we have some information on this year’s souvenir list.  So, without further adieu:

  • Battle Force 2000 weapons pack – $13.00

This year’s attendee exclusive is a red & blue Cobra release of the Laser Artillery Weapon

Joe Con 2017 LAW

Over at GeneralsJoes.com, Justin has some screen shots from the comic that back up a lot of our guesses here.

In addition, the rumor is that Backstop may be the parachute figure this year.  This makes sense given the design of the Joe Con 2016 Static Line whose head was an amalgamation of two design.

Lastly, here’s a quick look at this year’s set courtesy of Mike Tinnel’s cell phone:

Joe Con 2017 set

For those who purchased bagged sets, it’s being reported that three of the figures are packaged sans accessories.  The Club will be providing the missing pieces to purchasers at a later date.  However, if you bought a set on eBay, be sure to check with the seller to make certain that they will ship you the missing gear!

We’ll have more information as it becomes available but this is what we know thus far from the first night of Joe Con 2017!

And now you know!
