“Club Sub” FAQ page posted at GIJoeClub.com

It seems that the folks at the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club didn’t take the entire weekend off for Thanksgiving!  The beginnings of the “Club Sub” (aka “Figure Subscription Service”) FAQ page has now been posted.   Check it out:

Collector’s Club Figure Subscription Service FAQ

There’s not a lot of new details here– more discussion of how the ordering system is still being developed, how the Club Sub can’t be purchased w/o the Collector’s Club paid membership, etc but it is the beginnings of something that was promised a while back.  It does appear that subscribers will be able to choose from paying in one lump sum or in three installments.

Rise of Cobra MARS Troopers — now $1 at HasbroToyShop.com!

Looking for a Joe-based Cyber-Monday deal?  How about a Thanksgiving weekend deal on some troop builders?

Look no further than HasbroToyShop.com!

Launched as the “preview figures” for the film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, this MARS trooper three pack has been lingering at e-tailers and retail shelves ever since.  The set includes two troopers and one officer as well as some RoC-themed weaponry.  It’s not the most dynamic set in the history of Joe but it has one thing going for it right now– this set is only $1.00!  That’s right– for $1.00 you’ll get three figures to use for generic troops or custom fodder!  Heck, you can even purchase multiples and toss a few in a local Toys For Tots donation box!

So, what are you waiting for?  These figures aren’t going to get any cheaper!!

The final “Club Sub” reveal is Big Boa

Big Boa has  been revealed as the 12th figure in the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Figure Subscription Service!

So this is it– the full reveal of the 12 figures in the sub.  It’s certainly an interesting mix spanning incarnations of Joe from Extreme to Spy Troops to A Real American Hero.

No information of pricing or when the subscription period begins.   Until that time, as always I’ll be keeping my eyes on the official Figure Subscription Service page over at GIJoeClub.com.  (Although they’ve been dropping more information on their Facebook page than on their site.)

Here’s a gallery of ALL of the offerings thus far.  As of now the mysterious “13th incentive figure” will NOT be revealed until he or she arrives on subscribers doorsteps.  That means it could be anyone from “Arctic Attack Sure Fire” to Cobra ninja Slice to a Pursuit of Cobra update of Ice Cream Soldier.

Cover Girl is the latest “Club Sub” reveal!

The Collector’s Club has revealed the 11th figure in their Figure Subscription Service and it is Peoria’s home town girl – Cover Girl!

(Personally, I’m still hoping for a glimpse of Big Boa!)  As far as Cover Girl is concerned, I don’t think anyone is surprised by this figure construction.  The Club seemingly wanted to do Cover Girl in the 2011 Convention set and instead produced Sparta.  Change the hair color slightly, toss on a coat over the torso and you’ve turned Sparta into Cover Girl.  General Hawk even mocked this figure up using Photoshop in his review of the set!  It’s not the most inspired piece they’ve revealed thus far– which just leaves Big Boa and the bonus figure left.

No information of pricing or when the subscription period begins.   Until that time, I’ll be keeping my eyes on the official Figure Subscription Service page over at GIJoeClub.com.

Sure Fire is latest reveal from the “Club Sub”

Sure Fire is latest reveal in the Collector’s Club Figure Subscription Service!

Based heavily on the 2002 v2 version, he’s the latest in a long string of reveals from the Club.  (It also looks like he’s got the same vest as the Renegades version of Law. )  Personally I hope his green is a bit more subdued in person as this one is almost bordering on neon.  It very well could be the lighting but it’s pretty garish right now.  That being said, I do prefer the v2 coloring over that of the original.  It fits more with the varied look of the Joe team with uniforms consisting of Hawaiian shirts and sports jerseys.  Sharp-eyed fans will note that this new version now sports a beard whereas the original v2 was clean-shaven.  I’m still not entirely sold on this subscription service yet; this figure pushes me slightly more in the “going to take the plunge” category but not very far.

As always, no pricing has yet been announced; fans will have to keep their eyes peeled on Figure Subscription Service page of GIJoeClub.com for details.

BBTS Dreadnoks & Renegades sets previewed at TNI!

Wow… talk about a sneak preview!  The good folks at BigBadToyStore.com shocked fans a few weeks back with the preview of their Renegades and Dreadnoks seven packs!  Not content to just let things go at that, BBTS recently shared some samples with ToyNewsI.com– OF ALL 14 FIGURES!!!

Check out the preview of BBTS Exclusive Renegades & Slaughter’s Maruaders @ TNI

WOW.  Yeah, just WOW.  I’m a fan of these sets already but this preview really pushed these to the “top of my list” in terms of anticipation.  I’ve been enjoying the Collector’s Club previews of their subscription service but these two sets just blow me away in terms of character selection, price, and design.  Plus, with BBTS’ combo pack of both the 7 packs and the 2 previously-released Resolute packs for only $

Run, don’t walk and pre-order these sets today!

TNT is next “Club Sub” figure!

It seems the Collector’s Club is dipping back into the International Pool again with the latest Club Sub reveal: TNT.

tntfweb

Originally from Argentina, he’s listed as a Desactivador De Bombas over on YoJoe.  Now, I’ll be honest– this figure isn’t on my “Ooooh! Gotta Buy That!” list.  I’m not a collector of the international figures but there are plenty of new era collectors who are— as evidenced by the convention set sales in Kansas City.  Regardless, this Blowtorch repaint is the latest reveal in a varied line-up of figures.

I’m holding out hope for Big Boa in the near future.

Alexx Shorts: Steel Brigade Trooper

I really hope you didn’t army build those horrible 25th Joe troopers because: BAM.

Happy Friday – JINX revealed!

The Collector’s Club has revealed another figure from the 2011/2012 subscription service– the blind fighting ninja Jinx!

Very heavily inspired by the Valor vs. Venom version of the figure, Jinx also would appear to borrow parts from the cancelled City Strike Scarlett.  Either way, she’s a pretty solid addition to the Subscription cast of characters.

Iron Klaw revealed and some collected Club subscription quotes

Facebook seems to be the preferred communication method of the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club these days with all of the reveals of the subscription figures.  It’s also a place where the Club has been answering questions in “real time” with fans regarding the “still to be revealed” 6 month program.   After mining through some of the official posts, I’ve been able to glean the following bits of additional information:

  • The subscription sign up period will be longer than 2 weeks.
  • A subscription FAQ will be posted once the sub is available.
  • Figures produced use Hasbro sculpts and will be shipped on 25A style cards.
  • You MUST be an Officer-level member of the Collector’s Club to be eligible for the subscription.
  • The cost-per-figure is likely to be below $25.00 per item. (Due to low production numbers)
  • The number of figures produced will be based upon the number of subscriptions sold.
  • Figures will be shipped 2 at a time in special packaging. (Seen below)

Keep your eyes peeled on the Club’s Facebook Page, Twitter feed, and at GIJoeClub.com for more details.

Check out the gallery below for a pic of both Iron Klaw (Monday’s reveal) as well as the shipping package preview revealed yesterday!
