G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS Grand Slam Review

G.I. Joe Collector's Club FSS Grand Slam

The final figure in the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS Grand Slam is here!

Always a mystery until the very end, the FSS bonus figure this year definitely generated a great deal of discussion.  Shipping just one month after Bombardier, the original version of Grand Slam was seen by some as a great addition to their collections and by others as a “lazy repaint” of a figure subscribers had received just the month before.  For the final review of FSS 2.0, Chris Chung of JoeSightings.com and I put Grand Slam “under the lens” and ask the question: “Is he worth owning?”

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS Big Bear Review

G.I. Joe Collector's Club FSS Big Bear

It’s a bit of a dry spell for collectors out there– with no new 1:18 product hitting until Fall at Toys R Us.  Thankfully, the final shipment of the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS dropped not one but three figures into the hands of Joe fans recently.  It was a decidedly Oktober Guard heavy shipment (which is never a bad thing) that included a certain fur-capped Russian Anti-Armor Specialist.  Oh yes, comrades, I’m talking about Big Bear!

What did two Joe fans think of this bearded Sean Connery look-a-like?  Head on over to the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Review Index and find out!

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Bombardier Review

g.i. joe collector's club bombardier preview

The G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS 2.0 is drawing to a close.  For the second-to-last shipment the GIJCC dipped not into the traditional G.I. Joe canon but instead dove headfirst into collecting lore by producing the first ever mass-produced version of a figure whose origins were long considered a mystery.

That’s right folks, I’m talking about Bombardier – the mysterious “blonde Flash” that surfaced in the late 90’s.

Was he worthy of an inclusion in this premium-priced subscription service?  Head on over to the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Review Index and check out two Joe fans’ opinions!

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS Admiral Keel-Haul Review

G.I. Joe Collector's Club Keel-Haul

One strength of the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Figure Subscription Service has been its roster of characters.  For every TNT and Surefire, there’s been a Big Boa, Cesspool, and even a Nano BAT.  The FSS has breathed life into some of the more obscure figures who might never have received an update otherwise.  Case in point: Admiral Everett Colby – code name: Keel-Haul!

The good Admiral has the distinction of being the vehicle driver of the largest G.I. Joe vehicle ever produced– the incredible USS Flagg.  He’s also one half of the second-to-last shipment of FSS 2.0!  So, does this new version of Keel-Haul “blow me down” or should be just be consigned to Davy Jones’ locker?

Jada Toys Robocop 2014 Action Figure Reviews

Robocop 2014 figure review

What’s old is new again– in the case of 1980’s properties.  Jada Toys, better known for their collectible die-cast lines, has produced action figures for the Robocop 2014 remake of the classic 1987 film.  Unable to resist the pull of nostalgia, I snagged a pair of these guys and decided to put them “under the lens”.  Are these guys the “future of action figures” or are they better left in the slammer?  Read on to find out one Robo-fan’s opinion!

G.I. Joe Retaliation Ultimate Roadblock Review

G.I. Joe Retaliation Ultimate Roadblock

It’s no secret that Roadblock was the focal point of the G.I. Joe Retaliation marketing efforts.  Simply put: you don’t put someone like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a film and then ignore his presence.  This also means that the accompanying toy line is going to be chock-full of Roadblock figures– each with something just a bit different to make them unique from the rest.  Such is the case of the wave 3.5 release of “Ultimate Roadblock” which attempts to be the most screen accurate version of the character to date.

So, is this really the “Ultimate Roadblock” or just “yet another Roadblock”? Is he worth a purchase after the wave 2 Battle Kata Roadblock version?

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Big Boa Reviewed!

G.I. Joe Collector's Club Big Boa action figure

Big Boa has the distinction of only having received one single figure release in the classic G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero era.  It wasn’t until last year’s debut of the Figure Subscription Service from the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club that fans had a chance to own an updated “no-ring” construction version of the character.  For many fans, Big Boa was THE reason to sign up for the debut run of 13th figures from the GIJCC.  In the intervening year, this figure’s popularity hasn’t diminished and demand for him on the secondary market remains strong.

However, is Big Boa worth owning?  Is he a champion or a chump?

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Cesspool Reviewed!

G.I. Joe Collector's Club Cesspool

Cesspool! He’s a toxic menace who’s out to destroy the world! The G.I. Joe Collector’s Club figure has arrived!

In the early 90’s, environmentalism was all the rage.  TBS had “Captain Planet” and the recycling movement was gaining steam.  Ever the product of its time, G.I. Joe responded and introduced the heroic Eco-Warriors vs. the embodiment of corporate pollution– the evil Cobra C.E.O. Cesspool!  Once a greedy corporate tycoon, this twisted mad man was driven to bring the world to its knees with the use of his Plasma-Tox chemicals!  Thanks to the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Figure Subscription Service, this insane villain is now ready to menace Joe collections everywhere!

Chris Chung of Joesightings.com and I sit down to take a look at this latest FSS release that sports an all-new head sculpt from the talent team at Boss Fight Studios.   Does this figure live up to the hype?  Or is he a toxic addition to the ranks of Cobra?

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Night Force Lt. Falcon Reviewed!

Night Force Lt. Falcon

Ladies and gentlemen, the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Night Force Lt. Falcon has arrived!

January’s Figure Subscription Service shipment brought two of my more anticipated figures right to my door in one convenient package.  Even better– this delivery helped to complete the Nocturnal Fire convention set roster!  JoeSightings.com admin Chris Chung stops by to offer this thoughts as two Joe fans examine the newest addition to both of our G.I. Joe collections!  Was he worth the wait?  Does he fit in with the Nocturnal Fire set?  Is he scared of the dark?

G.I. Joe Retaliation Ultimate Flint Review!

ultimateflintteaser

The backlog of G.I. Joe Retaliation figures gets a bit smaller with the Ultimate Flint review!

In the film, Flint was portrayed as a brash, cocky, and headstrong member of the team who found himself tested when Cobra Commander’s brutal plan was put into action.  Some fans felt this didn’t jive with his portrayals in various media over the past 30 years while others found it to be spot-on with his early appearances in Larry Hama’s Marvel Comics run.  Regardless, wave 3.5 of the Retaliation line brought fans “Ultimate Flint”– a figure sporting a more movie-accurate deco and enough accessories to outfit a platoon.  Is this figure worth a purchase considering there was a Flint figure released just one wave earlier?
