So what is “Animal Warriors of the Kingdom?” It’s the debut action line from Spero Studios, based on the graphic novel “The Kingdom – Rise of the Ape King” from author Jason Bienvenu. Spero Studios was founded by Bienvenu and Brandon Gary who were inspired by the action figures we’ve known from the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s. Spero is dedicated to bring back the fun of those classic lines with modern articulation and accessories!
The first series is epic in its simplicity; it features the main primate character Pale, the heroic albino ape warrior, as well as four unique army builders. That’s right– in the first series supporters can obtain the core character of the graphic novel as well as variety of troops in which to stage their epic battles. Continue reading →
Following the success of the last Kickstarter which produced the amazing Marauder Task Force figures, the good folks at Marauder Gun-Runners are back with a brand new project. This time, the goal of the Marauder Task Force Valkyries Kickstarter is produce a highly-detailed line of female action figures. That’s right– the 1:18 world just got a lot more dangerous with the introduction of some serious femme fatales.
If you’ve been to 3DJoes.com any time recently you might have already seen the hardcover edition of this book listed. It’s an incredible coffee table volume that spotlights the amazing package art from the 1982 – 1983 releases from the classic G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line. The hardcover volume collects newly digitally restored artwork in an incredible 8″ x 11″ volume that shows just what made the classic packaging so attractive. The only downside of this volume was that it carried a hefty price tag of $205.
A pledge of $45.00 (plus shipping) will secure your very own paperback copy of Collecting the Art of G.I. Joe vol 1! With a modest funding goal of $6,000.00 this project will make paperback copies of the book available to more fiscally-conscious fans everywhere!
What is the Legion XIV Kickstarter project? Simple: it’s a fan-driven endeavor to add a bit more diversity to your 1:18 action figure shelf. The goal of the project is to secure funding to produce a highly articulated 1:18 series of modern army female action figures! That’s right– FEMALE action figures!
Think about it– new female action figures made from a combination of both ABS and PVC plastics to allow for maximum durability and flexibility! The Legion XIV Kickstarter’s modest funding goal of $21,000 will cover the production of the Basic Army, Basic Air Force, Night Ops, and Basic Blue trooper shown in the images below. (The last one is especially key— it’s essentially a FEMALE COBRA BLUESHIRT!!!) Remember how crazy fans went for the Night Stalkers from the Tanks for the Memories convention set back at Joe Con 2007?
Plus, have you SEEN the stretch goals? Let’s just say that Nick Fury and Baron Strucker have the chance to add some lovely ladies to their respective commands as well!
The staff at JBL are big fans of the website 3DJoes.com. (Let’s not forget its sister site Vintage3DJoes.com!)
Running a website is a labor of love and, for the most part, it’s a strictly not-for-profit endeavor. All of those costs that go into keeping a site up and running are typically absorbed by the site owner unless he or she happens to generate some ad revenue. Or, if you’re very very clever like Carson Mataxis, you can sell some truly AWESOME posters to help offset the costs.
Unfortunately, to produce such high quality posters also costs money– which is where the 3DJoes.com Kickstarter comes in. Here’s the announcement from Carson:
For two years I’ve been building 3DJoes.com, the ultimate G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero archive! 3DJoes is the only interactive, three dimensional museum of G.I. Joe A Real American Hero nostalgia. Best of all, it’s ad-free.
To help pay for the site, I’ve created three awesome posters (check them out here). I’ve taken a HUGE gamble each time I’ve printed one of these posters. The last couple posters have gone on a credit card and they have each taken over four months to break even. I simply cannot put another poster on credit, but that won’t stop me!
I’m ready to make three more, and I need your help! Each poster costs $3,000 to produce. SO, I’ve set the goal at $3,300 (to cover Amazon and KS fees) and hope to at least produce one of the following posters. If we hit the first stretch goal ($6,600), we’ll make two, and if we hit the second stretch goal ($9,900), we’ll make all three!
As always, I’m impressed with the level of detail that Carson puts into restoring each image to optimum quality. If you’ve seen his previous work, you’ll know that the final product is the best possible version of each piece of art. Now, imagine that level of meticulous detail applied to the vehicle artwork, or the 1986 – 1987 Joes, or even smaller pieces like post cards of the “To The Rescue” or “Yo Joe!” posters. Or, if artwork isn’t necessarily your cup-o-Joe you can walk away with a fantastic embroidered hat– just for supporting a truly terrific fan resource.
Even better– top-tier supporters can walk away with some of their items autographed by two of the minds behind the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero era — Larry Hama and Kirk Bozigian!
With 42 days to go, the project already has 42 backers and has raised $2,816.00 of its modest $3,300.00 goal. Let’s push that over the top and ensure that 3DJoes.com can keep on spinning! The deadline to contribute is September 3, 2014 at 8:01pm CST.
Show what support you can and let ’em know that the fan community supports 3DJoes.com!
With 36 more days to go, the Boss Fight Studio Kickstarter has reached it’s initial goal of $75,000.00! This means the Vitruvian HACKS line is guaranteed to go forward and that any subsequent funds raised will count directly toward the amazing Stretch Goals offered!
This is what BFS member Dave Proctor had to say earlier today:
Attention Boss Fighters! Our very own Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. action figure Kickstarter has met the $75,000 funding goal!!!!! A HUGE heart felt thanks, from all of us here at Boss Fight, to all of you that have helped us to come this far! We are preparing a very special reveal from our series three lineup to celebrate this milestone, please stay tuned! Know lets hunker down and start working on those stretch goals….
That’s right– now that the project is funded it’s time to focus on those amazingly Stetch Goals! After all, who doesn’t want a veritable army of Gorgons and Spartans! To contribute, check out the Boss Fight Studio Kickstarter and let’s keep this project growing!
Congratulations to the entire crew of Boss Fight Studio on the successful funding of their first in-house figure line! Soon fans will be able to set up their own Vitruvian HACKS Spartan army!
Unless you’ve been hiding in a cave in Cobra-La for the past few years you’re probably familiar with the work of Boss Fight Studio. This talented group of former Hasbro employees has worked on lines from Marvel Legends to G.I. Joe to the annual G.I. Joe Collector’s Convention sets. (Remember Nocturnal Fire and the Zombie Initiative? Yeah, it’s THOSE guys!)
Now this insanely talented group has decided to take their skills to the next level and branch out with their own proprietary figure line. Dubbed the Vitruvian HACKS (Highly Articulated Character Kit System), this series promises insane articulation on both male and female bodies in the 1:18 scale translated into a variety of classic themes. That’s right– mythology, fantasy, and science fiction– they’re all on the table with the HACKS system.
So, what can you do to help? How can you obtain some of these fantastic figures? This is where the Boss Fight Studio Kickstarter comes in!
In less than 24 hours and with 38 days to go, the crew has already raised just shy of $28,000 of their $75,000 goal. Your support of this project via Kickstarter can ensure two things: the project’s success and your own ability to obtain some truly awesome figures at launch! Plus, with their stretch goals, the rewards for supporting the Vitruvian HACKS only get better with the more funds that are raised. Plus, this is a Kickstarter supported project which means that your funds are secure.
So, what are you waiting for– an engraved invitation from the Boss Fight Crew? Hit the link below, show your support and tell your friends! Remember, the deadline to pledge is Friday July 11, 2014 @ 9:52pm PDT!
We LOVE Marauder Gun-Runners here at JBL! Sure, I’m incredibly behind on reviews of the last series but that doesn’t mean that the MGR love has diminished in any way. So, just imagine our reaction when this announcement dropped in the JBL mailbox late last night:
Marauder “Gun-Runners”ACTION FIGURE Pre-Order
Marauder Task Force Action Figures “Pre-Order”
Introducing the MARAUDER TASK FORCE Action Figures!
Highly detailed, fully articulated figures with multi-role customizable designs and featuring a wide variety of “modular” interchangeable accessories. The nameless, faceless, minions are ideal “army builders” or perfect “backup” troopers to use with other currently available action figures. “Night-Ops” Marauders, “Desert-Ops” Marauders, “Urban-Ops” Marauders…whatever mission, the Marauder Task Force figures can fill the need.
The Marauder Task Force figures feature multiple designs, several color options and a large number of accessories. REMOVABLE Helmets, headgear and vests coupled with a wide variety of INTERCHANGEABLE accessories (holsters, sheaths, ammo pouches, pockets & more)…leaves the final figure & accessory combination up to you!
Each fully assembled, factory painted, 1:18th scale action figure is produced at a high tech manufacturing facility using modern ABS & PVC materials (NOT handmade “castings” made out of “resin”). We were fortunate to work with the incredibly talented designers and sculptors at Boss Fight Studio on this project. Seriously, the figures need to be seen in person to really appreciate the level of detail (pictures DO NOT do the figures or accessories justice!).
We’ve launched a Kickstarter pre-order project to help get the required funding to start production. Designs, prototypes and paint masters are COMPLETE…all that remains to do is tool up and produce the actual figures and accessories. Please visit the Marauder Task Force Kickstarter project page for more pictures and greater in-depth details about the project.
Greetings! Just a quick reminder that the Marauder GR New Item “Pre-Order” event on kickstarter ends in about 24 hours (11:57PM EST on October 24th).
This is an opportunity to order & reserve the new items you’ve requested in advance. If you have not participated or are a little unsure of the process, we would suggest the “Powder Monkey” participation level. At that level for $15, you’ll get the “full set” of the 10 new items in black (ALL NEW SCULPTS and most “modular”), 12 new “modular” accessories, 6 of the items will have “working” stocks, removable ammo clips, several silencers AND “free” shipping for US & Canada orders.
Please check out the event and hopefully you’ll consider participating in the project:
Seriously, if you’ve not already done so and can spare the extra $$$, please consider contributing to this amazing project. Marauder Gun-Runners has produced some INCREDIBLE items for all 1:18 figure lines in the past few years, easily surpassing the quality of products from “the big boys.” Not only that, but they are one of THE most fan-centric customer-oriented companies I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. As of now, the initial goal has been reached but let’s show Marauder John that his efforts are appreciated by the fan base and knock this Kickstarter right out of the park!
Again, here’s some examples of the great work Marauder John has done all along for the fans:
