Hasbro reveals initial Retaliation figure and vehicle offerings!

Hasbro is taking the pre-Toy Fair initiative and has launched a page revealing many of the initial figure and vehicle offerings for the forthcoming film G.I. Joe: Retaliation!
It’s a pretty diverse list that’s filled with a lot of repaints of both classic and recent vehicles. However, it’s not just a “reused and repainted slate”– the infamous HISS Scout which only arrived in Canada has been retooled as a Joe vehicle and the recent POC/30th HISS has been given an upgrade as well. Plus, there’s new figures galore! Even better– Hasbro is promising 14 more reveals coming soon!
There’s even a Kim Arashikage SDCC figure coming this year!

Robert’s posted another article at this blog entitled “Cobra Commander Wasn’t Built In A Day” which delves even further into the process of designing the armor and uniform for IDW’s newest Cobra Commander. For those of you who haven’t yet read G.I. Joe vol 2 #8 be forewarned– you’re going to know the Commander’s identity within the first sentences of the article. However, this is one of those unique chances to get inside the creative process for the design of Joe’s preeminent villain.

Big Boa has been revealed as the 12th figure in the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Figure Subscription Service!
So this is it– the full reveal of the 12 figures in the sub. It’s certainly an interesting mix spanning incarnations of Joe from Extreme to Spy Troops to A Real American Hero.
No information of pricing or when the subscription period begins. Until that time, as always I’ll be keeping my eyes on the official Figure Subscription Service page over at GIJoeClub.com. (Although they’ve been dropping more information on their Facebook page than on their site.)
Here’s a gallery of ALL of the offerings thus far. As of now the mysterious “13th incentive figure” will NOT be revealed until he or she arrives on subscribers doorsteps. I have mixed feelings about this event. While it is bound to make for some interesting reading, I feel that it happened almost a bit too quickly. We had only just began to get a real glimpse of the current IDW Commander- less used-car salesman and pyramid scheme manager and more of a classic James Bond shadow leader– when he was assassinated by Chuckles in the now infamous single panel kill shot. I’ve enjoyed IDW’s run on G.I. Joe so far when it has strayed into new territory so I’m still along for the ride. Still… I think this event might have had more impact if readers had been exposed to the now-deceased Commander just a bit more.
