G.I. Joe FSS 4 Bullhorn & Inferno BAT reviews!

G.I. Joe FSS 4 Bullhorn Inferno BAT

G.I. Joe FSS 4 Bullhorn and the Inferno BAT reviews have been posted!

It’s that time again when Chris and Fred sit down to tackle new FSS reviews.  In this latest shipment from the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club fans received the updated version of the 1990 Intervention Specialist Bullhorn as well as a new take on the Cobra Inferno BAT!

It’s an odd pairing– a negotiator and an incendiary automaton designed for mass destruction but that’s par for the course when it comes to G.I. Joe FSS 4 shipments. Can this hot-headed android and this cool intervention specialist get along?  Bullhorn and the Inferno BAT might not make for an ideal showdown but this marks the first time that either of them has been updated to generation 3 construction.

The big question is: are these figures worthy additions to any G.I. Joe Collection?

Head on over to the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Review Index and check out two long-time Joe fans’ opinions on the G.I. Joe FSS 4 Bullhorn and the Inferno BAT. Afterwards feel free to let us know what you think in the comments below or over on the JBL Facebook page!

In the words of Pavel Chekhov from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country:

“Guess who’s coming to dinner!”

It’s been three weeks since the last shipment from G.I. Joe FSS 4 and the Collector’s Club is staying pretty true to their word about the frequency of shipping.  A few subscribers have already started to receive the latest shipment and, thanks to the ever-generous Alyosha of BrokenArrowToys.com, we’ve got images of the latest arrivals.

G.I. Joe FSS 4 Sign-Up Ends Today

G.I. Joe FSS 4 sign-up ends today at Midnight CST!

G.I. Joe FSS 4 roster

This is it– the last day to sign-up for the entire series of G.I. Joe FSS 4.  This year’s figure subscription service is mix of DiC era characters and international repaints with a long-requested figure of Cobra Commander’s son thrown in for flavor.  It’s the usual mix of repurposed parts with a few new accessories and two new heads from Boss Fight Studio

The Club already released two sets of new teaser images to help drive up enthusiasm for G.I. Joe FSS 4 sign-ups.  The first is a look at the prototype sculpts for Billy, Outback, and Sneak Peek’s periscope.  (This is being sculpted in lieu of a third new head.)

The second set of images has been added to main gallery below.  It’s a series of mock-ups of the backside of each character in the roster.  (There’s a pun in there somewhere.)

Also, for the first time the Club has offered a “hint” of the “13th Mystery Figure” included in this year’s set.  I say “hint” in quotes because the clue presents very little opportunity to discern the character’s identity.

– It will be a Female Figure!
– Features a NEW head sculpt!

Yep– that’s the ENTIRE hint.  Well, that narrows it down to the Baroness, Lady Jaye, Cover Girl, Scarlett, Jinx, Zarana, Pythona, G.I. Jane, Dr. Knox, Munitia, Mistress Armada, Candy Appel, Pale Peony, Shooter, and pretty much every non-male character to ever appear in G.I. Joe.  Let the speculation begin…

Joe Con 2015: Club announces FSS 4 and renewal figure

G.I. Joe Collector's Club Figure Subscription Service logo

At Joe Con 2015 the final “big announcement” panel was the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club annual round table.  Brian Savage, David Lane, Pete Sinclair, and Lanny Lathem took to the stage to discuss this year’s convention set as well as to unveil both the line-up for FSS 4.0 as well as next year’s renewal figure.

The crew from the Club was upfront about one thing– last year they took a lot of flack over the images used in the panel which were intended to illustrate the choice of character but that were not necessarily representative of the figure’s final deco.  As such, this year images were minimal as many of these figures are VERY early in the production process.

Also, figures released in the FSS are often chosen because they will NOT be released in that deco in a future convention set.  The FSS is a way to allow these characters to get to collectors and fill in gaps in individual collections.

We’ll start with FSS 4.0: Continue reading
