2009 Collector's Convention

2009 Collector's Convention

After a whirlwind presentation from Hasbro this afternoon, the first pics of the new 2010 product have been posted on the 2009 Convention page.  Multiple galleries have been added including pics from the Hasbro 2010 presentation, new RoC figures, new RoC vehicles, and the forthcoming store exclusives.

Start saving those pennies now, Joe Fans– it’s going to be an expensive year full of what is, in all honesty, some of THE best Joe product I’ve ever seen!

2009 Collector's Convention

I admit– it’s not the most polished page ever but I’ve put up a page to house the coverage of the 2009 Collector’s Convention in Kansas City.  I’ll be adding photos and items throughout the weekend as will other JBL staffers so check back early and often as things get underway here in “The Land of Barbecue”!  (The food, not the firefighter.)

First images appear for 2009 G.I. Joe Convention Exclusives

Mere hours after the news of which figures were being included in the souvenier set at the 2009 G.I. Joe International Collectors’ Convention in Kansas City, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has posted images of the souvenier sets that are being sold at the convention tonight!  These figures and vehicles take a decidedly international theme, using some very cool tooling parts and some really neat camouflage schemes.  Once again, the line up is as follows:

  • JUMP 2-Pack w/ Starduster and Manleh (LE 650)
  • 3-Pack of Sgt. Shimick, Sgt. Topson, and Sgt. Redmack (LE 650)
  • Crimson Command Copter (LE 400)
  • Gyro-Copter w/ Blades (LE 500)
  • G.I. Joe and COBRA Weapons Set (LE 1,000)
  • 12″ Crimson Guard Parachute figure

Once again, these go on sale when you pick up the full Crimson Strike Team or Eight Legs of Danger set at the Convention tonight.  You can see the images here, or I’ve also mirrored them below.  Discuss this exciting news in our forums as well!

Madmac41 is earning his keep tonight at JBL!

Scott just sent in these photos of the “Attendee bonus” item– a recolored Fang helicopter that is piloted by Glenda in the comics.  It’s looking like it’s an “all international” cast for the Joes this year.

Also, the following items will be available at the con this year, according to Scott:

First Report from JoeCon – Possible Convention Exclusives?

GeneralsJoes and JoeBattleLines just got the first intel straight from Kansas City as JoeCon is getting underway!  JBL Staffmember madmac41 called in to report that the attendee exclusive vehicle is a repaint COBRA FANG!

Done up in silver and sort of in “Argentina” colors to match Glenda/Pilot Scarlett.  A free comic also came with the Convention set, and the comic features the following characters (that are possibly convention exclusives):

As you can see by following those links above, each of these figures could easily be cobbled together with existing Anniversary parts.  Other characters appearing in the comic were Glenda, Starduster, and someone in a “red beret” who may or may not be tied to Action Force.  Keep in mind, this is a comic with art and is not any kind of definitive list about what figures are coming as Convention exclusives tomorrow, but it’s a nice start!

A big thanks to Scott for the info, and to discuss this exciting news in our forums click here.

“Joe: Declassified” returns to the 2009 Collector’s Convention!

This just landed in my inbox this morning:

The Joe Declassified Project will return to the G.I.Joe Collector’s Convention this year, and arriving back with a bang.  For those that were able to visit us last year, you were privy to see some of the the coolest and most revealing Joe items of your collecting career.  This year, we plan to return with more of the same, as well as another issue of our free newsletter!  This one will be printed in full color, and come in at over 20 pages of Joe material, including a huge behind the scenes peek at DDP’s WWIII storyline by Mike O’Sullivan himself. Check out last year’s newsletter here. If you love this hobby like we do, then come on by our booth!

The Joe Declassified Mission Statement:

We feel that it is high time that we, the fans of G.I.Joe, take up the responsibility of ensuring the growth of our hobby – both in wealth of knowledge, and broadening the fan base to welcome everyone into the overarching community.  As collectors, we have all spoken of, or heard others speak of things they wish to see in the community; secrets to be revealed, collecting tools made available, and so forth. We aim to go out of our way to ensure these voices are heard, and these desires become reality. We wish to work with other existing groups that are fan owned, operated and oriented, and seek to put aside those here solely to profit at the collectors expense; those who hold no love for our hobby.

We are putting our money where our mouth is. None of our endeavors will be for profit. A stronger, collaborative community is reward enough. Our newsletter was, and will continue to be, free to the collector. Our website aims to aid fellow collectors in every way possible, while stripping away old trappings that have discouraged us all in the past. With you, we will forge a stronger and united community based on sharing, inclusion and assistance. Now is the time for us to all come together and lead G.I.JOE back to being the number one toy brand is has been various times in the past. With you, we can make this happen. The future is yours.

Thank you for making this hobby better,

Sam “Nomad” Damon

Watch for coverage of this booth in the forthcoming convention coverage!

A Reminder from MadMac41

baronessnvipersm.jpg With the GI Joe Collectors Convention a little more than a week away I want to remind those of you who won’t be attending this year that if you have any questions for the Hasbro GI Joe Team to put them in this area. I will do my best to get answers to as many questions as I can. While the Hasbro Panels answer a good deal of our questions sometimes they just aren’t long enough to get to all of them, So I usually spend a good deal of time talking to the Team asking questions offering input(With some success I might add) and in general being such a pain in the @$$ that they will tell me anything I want to know just to get away from me. I will be leaving for K.C. next Tuesday Morning and I’m not real sure if I will have Internet access until after the Con, So be sure you get your questions in before Monday evening. Fred, Chris and Justin can get in touch with me while I am there so if  you PM one of them after Monday I still might be able to ask your questions.MadMac Out!
