This silver-hued beauty arrived late last week and to celebrate the Breaux Show put together a short assembly video of this Joe Con 2016 exclusive item. While the general construction of the jet is familiar to most Joe fans through its multiple releases over the past few years, the time-lapse video really shows off the color scheme and deco of the Sky Patrol Skystriker!
The Breaux Show’s video toy reviews are back with the Toys R Us exclusive NECA 1989 Batman!
I was in high school when Tim’s Burton’s 1989 Batman film exploded onto the big screen and took the nation, and the world, by storm! A marked contrast to the campy 1966 portrayal, the film which starred Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson presented the Dark Knight as just that– a dark brooding figure in a crime-filled world full of despair. It established Batman as a serious and complex character in the mind of many movie-goers and led to a pop culture renaissance of the character that included the debut of the seminal Batman: The Animated Series. Like many comic fans, I was hooked and the Keaton Batman became the benchmark by which all other cinematic attempts at Batman were measured.
Even better– good friend of JBL, The Breaux Show, managed to get his hands on one of these amazing figures and uploaded a brand new video review! Either check out the NECA 1989 Batman review on his YouTube Channel or embedded below!

Check out this nearly two hour long recap from this Sunday’s live radio show in which intrepid reporter Mike Breaux walks his audience through the entire Hasbro presentation and tour of all of the product lines shown. Along with over 250 images he provides insights from the showroom including how the Kre-O Firebat will interact with the Terrordrome playset.
Since this Toy Fair 2014 video might be a bit long for a lunch break, here are some time marks to jump to if you just want to watch certain subjects:
9:30 – My Little Pony
16:45 – Star Wars
35:30 – Marvel (including Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Avengers Infinite, etc)
When it comes to G.I. Joe and Toy Fair 2014, it was the Kre-O line that truly stood out at yesterday’s Hasbro Brand Entertainment Event in NYC. The only Joe product shown “on site”, the tiny building block line took everyone by surprise with the sheer diversity of the line showcased. From 24 new individual figures to some killer boxed sets, Hasbro proved their commitment to Kre-O with a Toys R Us exclusive G.I. Joe line that is sure to please many fans.
I’ve recapped the Kre-O information that was posted yesterday and have also added in the “on site” images provided by Mike Breaux of The Breaux Show who was gracious enough to cover the event for JBL. Now, how do I get my hands on that Gung-Ho again?
Kre-O individual figures (Available March 2014):
Air Adventurer (classic Adventure Team)
Airborne
Atomic Man (aka Mike Power – classic Adventure Team)
Did I also spy Alpine in there?! It’s a solid group of figures– including two additions from the Adventure Team roster although they seem to have lost their flocked hair!
Kre-O Boxed sets (Available March 2014):
Outpost Defense with (97 pieces) – includes Cobra Ferret and Outpost Defender, Storm Shadow v2 and Beach Head.
Firebat Attack with (292 pieces) – includes Firebat, Wolverine, Bazooka, Recondo
Cobra Terror-Drome (856 pieces) – includes Gung Ho, Hawk, Mainframe, Serpentor, and Xamot
Beginning in March, exciting new KRE-O building sets will let kids and collectors alike build vehicles and environments to play out the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA fantasy. Collectible blind-bagged KREONS of popular G.I. JOE characters will also hit shelves, including characters from both the heroic G.I. JOE team like LADY JAYE and FOOTLOOSE, as well as the villainous COBRA organization like TOMAX and SCRAP IRON. As part of the 50th anniversary celebration, Hasbro and Toys“R”Us are bringing one of the most popular G.I. JOE vs. COBRA playsets from the 1980s back in KRE-O form with the KRE-O G.I. JOE TERROR DROME Building Set. This iconic set features over 850 pieces and will be available in the fall.
Just a quick reminder– JBL’s coverage of the Hasbro Brand Entertainment Preview Event from Toy Fair 2014 will be going live later today!
Good friend of JBL, Mike Breaux of The Breaux Show has braved the East Coast winter weather to make the trek up to NYC to attend the event which starts at 1pm EST today. As soon as he’s able to report back, we’ll post coverage of whatever Hasbro’s plans may be for the G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary.
There’s been a lot of speculation as to what, if anything, Hasbro will be doing to commemorate this half-century of the first action figure. My own opinion is that we’re not likely to see anything before Q3 2014– meaning that more information could potentially be revealed at Comic Con 2014 than at Toy Fair this year. However, that’s just my opinion– it’s not based on any insider knowledge. Whatever the folks in Pawtucket decide to do, we can all agree that G.I. Joe has provided countless boys and girls, men and women with a source of inspiration and imagination over the past 50 years.
You’ll be able to view the coverage HERE as it is submitted!

Depending upon which source you use, this week marks the birthday of my favorite franchise of all time. To commemorate the G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary, the folks at The Breaux Show have put together a short video tribute as part of their “Geektastic History” series. Short and to the point, it’s a nice look back at 5 decades of “America’s Movable Fighting Man”!
