Tell Hasbro

Ok gang, here it is. ‘Madmac41’ has created a new sub-forum that will allow us fans to discuss and ‘tell’ Hasbro what we think and feel is the best way to continue the rich history of G.I. Joe for the future generations.

So head on over and ‘Tell Hasbro’ your thoughts!!

YO JOE!!!

SDCC 2010 Exclusive is… SGT SLAUGHTER!!

After the lackluster performance of last year’s “Rise of Cobra” themed set, it seems that Hasbro is returning to an exclusive with a much more wide-spread appeal:

Sgt. Slaughter as 2010 Exclusive!

With the cross-over appeal to the wrestling fans as well as the long-time Joe fans, I’m forseeing a sell-out on this particular exclusive akin to the “Convention Destro” from a few years ago.

Toy Fair 2010 coverage rolls in from across the web!

This weekend many Joe fans were hunkered down over their computers hitting “refresh” waiting for the latest news from the International Toy Fair in New York City.  News and pics have started pouring in at the sites listed below:

GeneralsJoes.com

ToyNewsI.com:

So, new figures– or at least redeco’ed “Pursuit of Cobra” figures with no more movie likenesses, new vehicles, Sigma 6 Mechs overhauled, Resolute 7 packs, and more.  It seems that the line is in transition yet again but at least the Resolute figures are FINALLY seeing the light of day.

Happy Birthday GI Joe!

Today marks the 46th Birthday of  one Americas greatest action figures. He first appeared on this date in 1964 and has been going strong since. JBL would like to salute you! Happy Birthday and many ,many more.

Hasbro's Q & A sessions

I’m sure many of you are wondering why we haven’t posted the Answers yet, The truth is Hasbro never got our questions……until today! Now there are a couple of people I would like to thank because without their help we would have had to wait until January. Mike and Danny with Hunter PR and of course the fine folks at Hasbro who went above and beyond to get these done in record time when they didn’t have to. Enough talk here are the Answers.

Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Brand Joins Forces With Toys for Tots and Actor Dennis Quaid in an Important Holiday Mission

toys-for-tots A cause that is very near and dear to my heart.  The following is a press release from Hasbro.   Join in the discussion here.

HASBROS G.I. JOE BRAND JOINS FORCES WITH
TOYS FOR TOTS AND ACTOR DENNIS QUAID
IN AN IMPORTANT HOLIDAY MISSION

Be a Hero and Help Deliver the Magic of the Holidays to Less Fortunate Children

PAWTUCKET, R.I., November 10, 2009 Over 14 million children live in poverty in the United States.  They need a hero this holiday season and here to answer the call of duty is the G.I. JOE brand from Hasbro (NYSE: HAS).

Hasbros G.I. JOE brand, the Marine Toys for Toys Foundation and actor Dennis Quaid are joining forces to help make this holiday season a little brighter for less fortunate children.  For every G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra toy purchased at stores from November 11 through November 26 (Veterans Day through Thanksgiving), Hasbro will donate a new toy (up to 300,000 toys with a minimum $3.99 value) to Toys for Tots.  Actor Dennis Quaid, who plays GENERAL HAWK in the 2009 blockbuster film G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra, from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment, in association with Hasbro, will voice a national radio spot, due to premier on Veterans Day, November 11, to help raise awareness for this campaign and the positive impact The U.S. Marines and Toys for Tots make on the lives of children.

As long time supporters of Toys for Tots, we recognize and applaud the important work the organization does on behalf of economically disadvantaged children nationwide, said John Frascotti, Hasbros Chief Marketing Officer.  In working with Toys for Tots once again this year, they were very clear that new toys for the children they serve would be in greater need than ever during these difficult economic times, and we are pleased to step up and do our part.

We know this year will be especially hard on families as many have already started to significantly tighten the purse strings, said retired Marine Corps Major Bill Grein, USMC (Ret), vice president of marketing and development for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.  These families need a hero this holiday season and Hasbro is it.  Their generous gift of toys and games will enable us to deliver the magic of the holiday season to many of our nations neediest children.

Wave 3 Alpha Vehicles On Hold

Hasbro logo

JBL member Bacasino broke the news here yesterday that he received an e-mail from the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club stating the Alpha Wave 3 vehicles were cancelled.  I called the club and they confirmed this was the case.  I asked if they were cancelled or merely postponed, but couldn’t get any further confirmation.  I also asked if there was anything else on the chopping block, and was told that this was the only thing for now.

There are a lot of fans weighing in on this topic, and some burning questions such as was it the price?  Did they over-produce?  Or maybe it’s the uninspired repaints that are coming with the some of the less-popular vehicles.  Whatever the case, I have to think we’ll see some of these down the road, since the money’s already been spent on the tooling.  Jump in and leave your thoughts here.

Uhmmm… Mister Hasbro?
