Look, anyone who’s been following JBL for any length of time knows that this site LOVES the Rank&FileGuide series. (Yes, each word is a link to a different post!) They’re some of the most detailed modern G.I. Joe reference works available and have a proud place on my reference shelf next to books by Mark Bellomo, Dan Klingensmith, and 3DJoes.com.
Volume 4 made a “special edition” debut at The Last Joe Con this year from Fun Publications with a special cover and insert pages. However, that was just a sample– a taste of what the full-fledged volume would contain. Now, G.I. Joe fans and toy collectors can order their own copy of this exciting volume that delves into the world of “the exclusives”…
However, don’t take our word for it… check out the press release from “Noted Author” James Kavanaugh himself!
Rank & File vol 3, the next installment in the ultimate modern G.I. Joe reference series, is coming soon!
At JBL we’re very exciting to report that noted author James Kavanaugh’s next exciting reference volume is coming very soon! Volume 1 and Volume 2 proved to be amazing and this next installment looks to be James’ best work yet! (That’s saying something as RAHC Guide was pretty AMAZING.)
Rank & File vol 2, your guide to the G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and Pursuit of Cobra action figure lines is now available online!
If you purchased Rank & File vol 1 or the RAHC Guide then you’re already familiar with the care and quality that “Noted Author” James Kavanaugh puts into his guides. For that reason I’m excited that Rank & File vol 2 is NOW AVAILABLE online at RAHCGuide.com. This second volume focuses solely on the “movie era” G.I. Joe and offers a comprehensive look at the figures and vehicles from both the Rise of Cobra and Pursuit of Cobra lines. Even better– a copy will only set US Joe fans back $26.50!
In fact, here’s a sample of what fans can expect to find inside:
I’ve known author James Kavanaugh for a long time now and I can personally attest to the fact that these guide books are a personal passion of his. From his initial layout mock-ups that he debuted back in New Orleans in 2006 to the final product, there is a real love of the product that shines through on each and every page. As I’ve been pulling various parts of my RAHC and 25th anniversary collection figures out of storage, his guides have become essential in helping this Joe fan re-equip so many figures that were lumped together in the same storage bin. All bias aside, this is THE book to use if you don’t want to go online to look up a part or figure!
However, don’t take my word for it! Check out some additional preview images below and then peruse through the official press release. Trust me, you’ll want to snag your own copy of Rank & File vol 2 ASAP!
A few weeks back JBL reported that “noted author” James Kavanaugh was releasing a new reference book entitled Rank & File centered on the “no-ring” era of G.I. Joe figures. Now, we’re happy to report that Rank & File is now available online!
That’s right, the first volume of this amazing guide series to the “modern era” of G.I. Joe is available for just $20 + shipping. (US & International)
Trust me, Rank & File lives up the high standard set by the RAHC Guide that covered 1997 – 2007. I was fortunate enough to pick up a copy at Joe Con 2015 from “the man himself” and have been pouring through it ever since. (Expect a review in the near future! Really!) From the detailed photography to the intuitive layout, this book is sure to become a “much used tome” on your G.I. Joe reference shelf!
So run, don’t walk, over to RAHCGuide.com and snag your copy of Rank & File v1 now! Quantities are limited and you won’t want to miss out on this terrific companion to your ARAH Generation 3 G.I. Joe collection!
The MSRP for The Rank & File Guide Volume 1 is $20. Volume 1 will be first available at Joe Con in Springfield, IL and available to purchase online after the show at www.rahcguide.com. Buyer will pay all additional shipping and handling costs. If you have purchased the R.A.H.C. Guide, the process will be very similar. In order to get content to the fans as quickly as possible, the decision was made to divide the series up into, as of this announcement, up to six volumes. They working divisions are as follows:
Volume 3: Celebrating 30 Years of A Real American Hero / Renegades, Retaliation, Basic G.I. Joe Asst., 50 (should include 2015 figures and possibly beyond).
Volume 4: Convention Exclusives, G.I. Joe Collector’s Club (up to at least 2015)
Volume 5: Complete and organized Accessories section comprised of Volumes 1 through 4
*** Depending on sales and other factors*** Volume 6: Complete Sealed Packages comprised of Volumes 1 through 4.
James was also good enough to share a custom image from the book with JBL that showcases the quality of the work contained within! Check out this look at two of the admin’s favorite figures from the G.I. Joe Resolute line! Continue reading →
Long-time friend of JBL and noted author James Kavanaugh Jr returns to the published world with his second G.I. Joe reference guide! (His first book, the RAHC Guide, is an essential tome here at JBL HQ!) Not only that, but the book will make its fandom debut at Joe Con 2015 with online sales to begin shortly thereafter!
I cannot stress enough how excited I am about KuuKuuSon’s upcoming RAHC Guide. It was the GIJoe vs. Cobra era that allowed me as a collector to build up the collection that I’d always wanted. Many of my favorite characters were modernized with updated sculpts and many of my favorite troop builders were reissued in affordable multi-packs. Better still, the entire era was still compatible with the classic A Real American Hero era that hooked many Joe fans in the first place! James’ book is easily in my most-anticipated books list– right up there with this month’s release of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Classics v10 from IDW.
Check out James’ first update which includes links to all of the discussion threads throughout the online Joe community!
