Rumors have persisted that Electronic Arts would be producing a GI Joe video game to coincide with the movie release in August of 2009. This article from Variety confirms a Hasbro/Electronic Arts deal that will result in several Hasbro video game properties, including GI Joe.

The GIJoe Collector’s Club has launched the web page for the 2008 Collector’s Convention. While no hotel information has been listed, this is the first online confirmation of the event’s location.
The February issue of the Collector’s Club newsletter lists the dates of the event as June 26 – June 29 at the Embassy Suites Frisco in Dallas Texas.

No word as to whether or not the Wolverine will make an appearance in the film.
In what may be the most ambiguous announcement to date, Sideshow Toys unveiled their Super Bowl commercial which features a familar group of characters, glimpsed only briefly in shadow.
The ad promises a “big reveal” Februay 17 – 20 at SideshowCollectibles.com.
Sideshow Collectibles has an established reputation for producing highly-detailed 12″ scale figures.
El Mayimbe has given the latest draft of the GI Joe film’s script a glowing review here at LatinoReview.com. He has previously reviewed the previous two drafts and this latest version is far and away the best of the three, in his opinion.

In what might be the midst of a swarm of movie news and rumors, LatinoReview.com chimes in with what may be the best news of all.
Larry Hama will be serving as a “creative consultant” on the live-action motion picture.
This news has yet to be confirmed by either Paramount or by Hasbro but, if true, it could to much to assuage fan fears regarding the direction of the feature film.
IESB.net is reporting that after seven years, Devil’s Due Publishing has lost the license to publish a GIJoe comic series. It would appear that the final issue of the “World War 3” storyline will be the final issue of the series.
There is no official confirmation of this news from either Hasbro or Devil’s Due at this time.
In the latest in a series of casting rumors, IESB.net claims to have the inside track on the actor that will don the metal mask and take the reigns of MARS in the forthcoming motion picture. While unconfirmed by either Hasbro or Paramount, this is the latest is a flurry of casting rumors as the start date for production draws ever nearer.
