G.I. Joe FSS Shipment 3 is Inbound!

It’s that time again– when a new shipment from the G.I. Joe FSS is arriving on subscribers doors.  Thanks to Alyosha of BrokenArrowToys.com, we’ve got images of this latest arrivals. This month it’s another Nocturnal Fire alumni and a repainted G.I. Joe Retaliation figure.    If you haven’t already guessed, I’m talking about Spearhead & Max and Vypra!

G.I. Joe FSS Spearhead & Max

Yeah… when this figure was first previewed he was shown with a very nice REALISTIC color palate.  Apparently, this caused a few fans to have some sort of fit of hyper-nostalgia and so the Club changed the G.I. Joe FSS 3 deco to something closer to the 1988 original and the result is a figure that looks as though it was dipped in Orange Tang.  Seriously… the paint apps on Max are almost “dollar store” level bad.

G.I. Joe FSS Vypra

Oh Vypra– you never really had much of an identity of your own.  You started life as a Jinx repaint and now you’re still a Jinx repaint, just from the G.I. Joe Retaliation line.  (Yes, I realize that the legs are from the Renegades Scarlett. It’s just not enough to make her any more visually interesting.)  I find it pretty sad when the 1998 figure had a much more interesting paint deco.  Heck, even the 2004 version was more visually interesting.

Overall this is a pretty underwhelming shipment.  I know that it’s considered taboo in some circles to criticize any released G.I. Joe products but seriously– for the premium prices the Club charges I expected better from both of these.
