As the date of Joe Con 2015 gets closer and closer the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club has begun to unveil the figures that will comprise the 1:18 scale 15 figure set. Today’s preview is an alumni of two previous Collector’s Club releases – feast your eyes on Dial-Tone:

In the words of Bull Shannon from the classic series Night Court: “Ooookay…”
Now, I’m not a Dial-Tone hater by ANY stretch of the imagination but you’d think that the Club would have released enough of him to satisfy even the most stalwart fan of the character. After all, he was both the renewal figure and a member of the convention set in 2011. So, now four years later he’s back and sporting the Tiger Stripes.
Don’t get wrong– there are some improvements to the figure, such as using the Cobra Shock Trooper legs this time around. However, he just feels very “been there, done that.” I hope this isn’t a sign that the creative spark has gone out of the minds tasked with putting together this year’s convention set. We’re only two figures in so far and neither one of them has proven particularly exciting, at least to this particular site admin. At least he’s different from the 2003 version.
Hopefully the rest of the Tiger Force vs. Iron Grenadiers theme is more exciting or this will be a very under-whelming exclusive for Joe Con 2015.
