G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Membership Cross Country Review

G.I. Joe Collector's Club Cross Country

The G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Cross Country figure is here!!!

I’ve been waiting for this figure to hit my mailbox ever since it was first announced.  I can’t really explain it but the concept of an updated Cross Country with new parts from Boss Fight Studio had me more excited than a Joe fan at opening night of G.I. Joe Retaliation!  Even though I was never a huge fan of Cross Country as a kid this version looked like sheer plastic perfection.

So was he worth the wait?  Check out the review in the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Review Index and find out one Joe fan’s opinion!

Price and Images for HAVOC Mk II from G.I. Joe Collector’s Club

G.I. Joe Collector's Club Havoc Mk 2

The G.I. Joe Collector’s Club had a surprise when they announced Cross Country as the 2014 membership renewal figure and that was the release of an exclusive HAVOC Mk II that would also be available.  Today, David Lane unveiled the final sample images as well as the pricing information.

Here’s the latest information from “Commander Lane”:

G.I. JOE H.A.V.O.C. MK-II (Add-On Vehicle purchased separately) will be available in late spring from the GIJCC Store. This 2014 Limited Edition club exclusive vehicle will be $42 + shipping!

Based on the colors of the original H.A.V.O.C. driven by CROSS-COUNTRY, this vehicle features an opening canopy, free-rolling wheels, a moveable windshield wiper and hi-velocity X-1 torpedoes. Plus, you can elevate the vehicle’s launcher to rotate 360 degrees and fire four missile accessories!

[Vehicle will be bagged with accessories and some assembly is required. Cross-Country figure NOT INCLUDED.]

The H.A.V.O.C. [Heavy Assault Vehicle Ordnance Carrier] MK-II combines the stamina of a tank with the handling of an off-road vehicle. The result is a machine that makes its own road over tough terrain to battle the evil forces of COBRA.

It’s not a bad looking vehicle although I don’t know if I need another Snowcat um… HAVOC in my collection at this time.  Still for those fans who don’t own a vintage version and want a vehicle with which to display Cross Country this isn’t a bad price.  When you consider that there won’t be any new 1:18 Joe product out until Fall the Club just might have a perfect window in which to sell these bad boys.

Cross Country is available as a free figure to those individuals with a current membership in the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club as of March 16, 2014.  For more information, visit GIJoeClub.com today.

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Cross Country Production Sample!

In late 2013, the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club unveiled early mock-ups of the 2014 membership renewal figures including a mock-up of HAVOC driver Cross Country.  Fans were excited but were curious how the original would fare when compared to the digital rendering.

Today, “Commander” David Lane unveiled the following image:

According to the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club, the figure will be shipped bagged late Spring to all active members with a file card and all accessories included in the image.

So, what’s this Joe fan think so far?  Actually, thanks to the efforts of the crew at Boss Fight Studios, Cross Country is looking pretty snazzy!  I like the new head sculpt and vest and the use of the 30th Anniversary Viper arms guarantees a great range of motion.  The M4 and the wrench make for logical accessories and even the color scheme is pretty sharp.  It looks like the Club’s track record of producing great membership incentive figures for the past few years remains unbroken as Dial-tone, Footloose, and Iceberg were all solid additions to my generation 3 G.I. Joe collection!

To renew or register in the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club, visit www.GIJoeClub.com.  You must be an active member by March 16, 2014 to receive this figure as a membership incentive piece.  An annual membership runs $44.00 per year for the basic shipping.

Cross Country Announced as G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Renewal Figure

G.I. Joe Collector's Club Cross Country 2014

It’s that time of year again– when the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club reveals the membership renewal figures for the forthcoming year in an attempt to encourage fans to sign-up/renew their membership.   After a string of successful endeavors over the past few years including Dial-Tone, Footloose, and Iceberg the club pulls out all of the stops with this year’s reveal of HAVOC driver Cross Country!

Based on the debut 1986 version of Cross Country the figure looks pretty darned solid in this fan’s eyes and I’d be remiss if I didn’t sense the involvement of Boss Fight Studios in this design somewhere.  According to the Club:

2014 CROSS-COUNTRY (3 3/4-Inch Modern Era Action Figure)

CROSS-COUNTRY is the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club FREE Membership Incentive Figure for 2014! This FREE figure will be sent to any G.I. Joe Club member that chooses the 3 3/4-inch figure option and whose membership is active by March 16th, 2014.

This club exclusive CROSS-COUNTRY action figure features a NEW head sculpt, NEW vest with holster, figure stand, classic file card and accessories, including: assault rifle, pistol, and NEW vehicle wrench. Members can expect to receive this bagged figure with all his accessories in late spring/early summer of 2014!

It’s a nice recreation/update of the original figure that brings Cross Country firmly into the Generation 3 era of 1:18 construction.  I do miss the character’s goofy grin that was so prevalent on the original 1986 design but I can live without also seeing his “chipmunk cheeks” recreated as well.  (Seriously, it looked he either had the mumps or was storing nuts for the winter in there!)  What is more surprising is that the GIJCC revealed the release of the “HAVOC Mk II” as an optional accessory for purchase later.  Essentially just a repainted Snowcat I’m not certain how it will go over with a membership that has already purchased two Figure Subscription Service waves in the past year.  Consider me definitely down for Cross Country and a probable “pass” on the HAVOC Mk II.

All of the renewal information for both 1:18 and 1:6 can be found at the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club links below.
