When you re-use characters like Duke and Snake Eyes so much, you really need to do something to make them more appealing each time out. This arctic-themed Duke comes with a wide assortment of cool updated gear to make this figure worthwhile, even if you own 5-6 Dukes like I do.

So many accessories to cover here...I'd say the ski's are probably the ultimate focus of the set (to go along with the shoulder-mounted rocket launcher) but personally sometimes I like all of the assorted smaller stuff better than the large, overbearing stuff with the figures.

Sometimes the big weapons can be cool. This rocket launcher has a certain appeal, from the way it fits with the Switchfire to the overall shape of the body, to the twin-barrel launch configuration. It all looks pretty neat, and fits the figure well, even though I might prefer a smaller machine gun. The "hidden barrel" feature is a little funky, but works okay. The missile locks the top tube in, then you use the shoulder pad to eject the top barrel, and then there's a small button on top which will launch the top missile.

The skis are another large accessory, and I actually like those a lot, too. They're sleek and slim, but the two large booster jets on them obviously provide a great amount of bang for their buck and evidently propel the ski's with no need for ski poles, which is fine with me. I love the design of them and I think they've got the potential to be a cool component of this set.

Other items like the pick axe look pretty standard at first, but there is a lot of neat play value built in. From the carabeener hold-clip, to the handle knife blade, the axe is a very neat accessory. The rear blade separates into two, and Hasbro manages to make a pretty simple accessory look really neat and modern.

The twin Switchfires are also appreciated and work well with the rocket launcher. They are nicely, if mildly, detailed and I like the colors here. I really wish Duke had some sort of holsters to hold them in, though...that's a considerable disappointment, to me at least.

The binoculars round off these smaller accessories, and again they make a lot of sense given his specialty, and again, a relatively common accessory looks very neat and fits in well with the Sigma 6 universe.

Along with the weapons, of course, being an arctic specialist, Duke needs to come with some clothes to protect him against the elements. He's got a terrific cloth jacket that's nicely layered and wonderfully designed. He's also got a great set of snow goggles, and a couple of awesome forearm coverings that simulate gloves perfectly. All in all, not real elaborate, but intricate enough to really make it work.

So even with some Duke overload over the past few months, Hasbro manages to give us enough great new accessories to make this figure worth your while. An awesome jacket, great pistols, ski's, and other assorted goodness really adds some value here.
