Hasbro Q & A round 5 ANSWERS!

Hasbro wrote:1) In the 80's, the GIJoe comic was used to help sell the toy line and vice versa. Will Hasbro ever embrace this type of "multi-media blitz" to the line again with a television series, comic, and toy line all cross-promoting each other?

Yes, take a look at Transformers for an example of Hasbro embracing multi-media around a big event movie.

2) If the 8" S6 line has been discontinued, are there any plans to integrate characters introduced in S6 to the 25th line?

This was discussed and theteam decided to stay true to the 80's for the anniversary line rather than add Sigma characters.

3) Is there any chance at all of seeing characters from the entire history of G.I. Joe in the 25th format? (I'd love to see 4" versions of characters from the 12" Adventure Team days, and even 4" versions of characters from G.I. Joe Extreme and Sgt Savage.) Interesting idea.

While anything is possible in the long run, there are currently no plans for this.

4) There been plenty of requests to see new male arms, particularly, in the case of Gung Ho, Flint, Breaker, and Rock N Roll, newly tooled arms with short sleeves, or bare arms. When can we expect these to be made?

We can forward this request onto the design team and see what we can do for you!

5) Any chance of releasing small playsets such as Cobra Bunker, Watch Tower, Cobra Surveillance Port or Check Point Alpha? (Perhaps released as a Battle pack with a couple of figures - similar to the five-packs sold under the "Star Wars" brand currently.

Currently no plans for playsets in 2008
"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Well, I hate the answer to the Sigma, Extreme, AT and Savage answer. I liked the idea of exploring all 25 years including some of the off shoots and up to VvV. It's to bad we can't look forward to some of the cooler New Sculpt guys like Barrel Roll and Blackout. Those guys rock and would have made great 25th sculpts and would have probably sold just as well. Hopefully the comic packs will continue to give us tweaks on the classic figures.

Now we have gotten Red Ninja and Fred is coming up and they weren't 80's figures so hopefully there is some wiggle room.

The Red Ninjas were 80's characters though. Plus they are basicly just a repaint.

It's very cool of Hasbro to continue to do this for the fans.

This one is a little puzzling though:

Code: Select all
Cool Toy Review: Why is it that instead of a 25th Anniversary comic-based figure pack we don’t get (at least once) a cartoon-based pack? There’s a great number of characters that showed a remarkable variant look on the classic cartoons such as: Ace, Cover Girl(MASS Device), Lady Jaye, Wild Bill, Sparks, Torpedo, Breaker, Flint, and the “Green Shirts” (among others) that would make an outstanding appearance as figures. Although they don’t have to come with a DVD, that shouldn’t be a problem since Hasbro has released figures with CDs/DVDs containing some of the classic cartoons recently.

Hasbro: We plan on officially addressing our stance on vehicles this year at Toy Fair. Until then we just ask that you bear with us.

:?: Huh :?: That didn't answer the question at all. :|

Cool Toy Review: Being a former Coastie, Cutter is my favorite Joe. Any chance of a new version of him in the outfit he had with the W.H.A.L.E.? Maybe with a removable life preserver and removable hat?

Hasbro: The bad news is that Cutter is not planned. The good news is that with a new life vest coming on a future figure, you can work with our customizing friends at Joe Customs and make one.

It's too bad we're not getting a Cutter. That also probably doesn't bode well for a WHALE either.

I wonder what other figure would sport a life vest? Hmmm....

Sure, I read the question as focusing on the 80's figures. It doesn't really state that, but it's what I assumed since that really is the most well known segment of G.I. Joe. Making a Red Ninja doesn't really make any more sense than Frankensteining a Barrel Roll in the scheme of things they probably just as popular to different fans. So using that logic I figured they mean 80's figures b/c they were the most popular part of the mythos and we had just lucked out with Red Ninja, Scar Face, Fred etc...Now if 80's means any character from the 80's - cartoon characters, comic characters or figures then that would make me happy.

I'd prefer they skip the sucky lame characters as Billy, all October Guard, Kwinn, or Billy. They should focus on getting the 25th figures RIGHT, with the proper weapons, webgear, and Vehicles.

why is hasbro taking so long to ship to online retailers? if i hadnt found them in the stores i would still be waiting on wave 2 and 3. and this is what i had planned on doing because of gas.
i know some kind of answer came out about this but i had to blow off some steam about this.
