You could be onto something, actually. Maybe PoC was sort of like a final good will effort to get Joes to sell on their terms, and if it didn't happen, maybe they had no choice but to cheapen the product while doing anything but cheapening the prices. Or maybe they've lost revenue in other areas and it's affected everything else. But then, Star Wars figures aren't suddenly resembling Power of the Force crap from 1997...

Yeah, I gotta say, if I struggle to find a job and can't buy toys for a while, the timing could certainly be worse.

Dont worry Monte , when you move to california and come north to visit, you can have your hands on all of Sigma 6 , MOTUC , Sigma 6 , Voltron , and more Sigma 6

! But yeah , toys are no joke - basically im a mid 30's father of 3 - I dont smoke - go out drinking , or have expensive hobbies like building cars or bikes or whatever.

And im pretty sure I could do all of those if i didnt collect toys.

Certainly makes you wonder. Kinda hard to sell the joes when they're barely stocked, though. I mean, I got the current waves at TRU (though I never found Storm Shadow, which is still irking me) and Target got them in way later...and now they're clearanced. PoC seemed to be doing well enough, but you still seriously had to hunt that stuff down. I don't know how they're distributing or whose fault it is, but if your theory is true, then I can see how the last ditch effort failed. Something has to change, but I don't know what.

As for Star Wars: They aren't EVER gona lose any paint or articulation or anything. It's Star Wars. License to print money.

Yeah, I gotta say, if I struggle to find a job and can't buy toys for a while, the timing could certainly be worse.

I believe I've said it already, but good luck to you! I think there are a lot of us that need it. You're teaching, aren't you? I don't believe I've ever gotten into a non-toy conversation with you before; i'll have to fix that sometime!

I need that on a plaque in my toy room!

I am indeed a teacher, but my hope now is to get out of teaching. Nine years of it have mostly destroyed what meager stores of optimism and faith in humanity I once had. I cannot abide the politics and bureaucracy any longer.

I've been buddies with my friend Kit for twenty-five years, and whenever we talk on the phone, it's cartoons this and toys that and pop culture here and nostalgia there, and then eventually one of us asks, "So how's work?" or "How's the family?"

Fifteen seconds later: "Say, have you been watching that new ThunderCats cartoon?"

Sounds like the stuff that scared me outta the idea of a teaching degree. That, and the fact that I just had too many teachers that seemed...tired of it all. I was a terrible student and I knew that if I wasn't going to go into teaching to change something then I just shouldn't do it. I wouldn't even know where to start, honestly. Plus: I was thinking of getting into high school stuff, and I didn't like high school students when I WAS one, so I didn't think that would change much over time.

Ha, well there's the truth there! It's not like I don't do the same thing with my friends. In all honesty the reason I hate family get togethers is that ALL there is to talk about is "how's life?" Well, same as it always has been. No other things in common, soooooo...wait for family time to be over. But, I've never had much of a close-nit family, so it's the norm for me.

MORE TOYS OM NOM NOM.

Slushy: Man, I can't believe I'm sayin' this, but I'm actually glad Slushy's tenticles aren't bendy! I mean yeah, I would have liked that for other posing options, but having them fixed like that actually makes him more fun for play than for display. They can knock dudes over, trip up their legs, grab weapons, etc. It's pretty cool! That, and they are fixed in a perfect position no matter which side you have them on. Only complaint I have is that, after looking at his dome - he could have TOTALLY had a turnable head. Dunno how that passed them up. Overall though, I love 'em! Never had 'em as a kid, so it's cool to finally have a version of him. Also glad that he can use his weapon both ways!

Spector: SO COOL. I knew I would like him but he's even better in-hand. He embodies everything that was simplistic about my old drawings as a kid, and it's cool to have that child-like spirit in the 30th line. In fact, I'd say all the reveals so far are very child-like in spirit, and I think that's one of the most important parts (besides the fact that it's like going to the store and discovering brand new toys you've never seen). Of course, beyond all that, I just like the simple design and the ideas behind him. Gun, energy knife, and the coolest little cosmic key ever. It's funny; he has less tech than some MotU figures, yet still has that....from-the-future feel. I'll have to wait until I get Sir Laser-Lot, but I think Spector might be my favorite from the 30th line in terms of playability. Draego certainly takes the cake for PURE ARTISTIC joy and amazment, but he's kinda hard to get into dynamic poses with the huge tail in the way (which I feel was a failing of Whiplash as well, since the original figure's tail was nice 'n rubbery).

STINKY: WOW. Never had this guy when I was little, but WHOO BOY I am impressed! Way cooler than I thought he would be; I mean seriously. Part of that....well, part of that may be from this little misshap:

Image

AAAAHHHHGGHHH!! No pupils in my 200X head! When I first unboxed him I was disappointed...but then I put the head on. Man, look at that creepy sucker!! Isn't that awesome? Still, I made a post at He-Man.org's marketplace to see if anyone didn't want the 200X head so I can get a correct one, but I wana keep this head 'cause it's so hilarious and creepy. Funny how my first error figure (to the point where I would consider sending it back) is actually a happy accident. So cool! Only one other problem...

Image

...the vintage head is screwed up too! I'm already in negotiations for a vintage head, so at least that'll get fixed. We'll see if anyone is willing to get rid of a 200X head for me as well.

Beyond all that, though: Stinkor is friggin' awesome! The arms don't even bother me like I thought they would. Really a great figure all around; especially because of my crazy mistake horror head!

my only complaint with stinkor...

he is the first action figure i remember buying myself. i was very young... maybe 3-4ish.. was with my grandma... to this day she will still bring him up... so i cant wait to show her the new one..anyway

i remember opening the original.. and the smell was strong.. so strong , that mine still has a smell to it... but this one... not so much, its there ... but its lacking... but thats my only complaint with him...

you know I've been wanting to pick up some figures from this line but have never been able to pull the trigger.

now if they made a fully armored He-man without the furry underwear I think that might push me over the edge.
