Be careful with Guru Planet

Postby Dusty Ayers » Thu Apr 15, 2010 12:59 pm

I am posting this with a little trepidation. First let me caveat this with a statement. I do not want to encourage bashing of any site. This is one of the many things I enjoy about JBL - the lack of crapping on other sites. However, I want to caution my fellow JBL Joe bros about an experience I had with a site called Guru Planet. I ordered 3 loose Joes from them at a nice price. TF Recondo was beautiful. TF Lifeline had two very broken elbows that did not appear in the picture and had no write up in the description. TF Bazooka was the biggest dissapointment. His chest looked like someone took sandpaper to him. He was not the figure pictured on the site and again, there was no description. I do not want to flamespray this site so I am trying to keep this just to the facts. I sent Guru an email about my concerns and have not heard anything back. I'm bummed because their site is cool and they have two more figures I like but won't pull the trigger on because of the first order. I checked with the other mods about this so I did not go off half-cocked on this. If you know or are attached to Guru feel free to post but keep it civil. The reason I posted this is more of an FYI. If someone had a bad experience from a site I was going to order from it would be nice to get a shout out to get all the facts.

Ouch dude......sorry that happened to you.

Both myself and Flint have dealt with Guru-Planet on several occasions and had great luck.

I know you said that the picture wasn't the one you were sent, this is common practice with them (from my experience)....but usually they will have a description of the figure's condition if you want to purchase it.

I hope that you hear back from them soon.......keep us updated!

You're right when you say Guru-Planet doesn't show the actual pic of the figure you're ordering, but I must say I'm a regular customer of this webstore since 2004, and I never had any problem with used figures. Also, they have one of the lowest shipping costs (to Brazil, at least) in the net.

I have changed e-mails with Don Hoff, the owner, and he seems to be a nice guy. I suggest you insist on your messages to him, and I'm almost sure he will help you.

yeah, I haven't had any problems with GP either. I'd definately say, contact the owner. On one occassion, I had an issue with an order. I contacted them and they let me know what happened and refunded the price for what I didn't get.
