Upon scheduled arrival in the Pegasus Galaxy for a supply drop, Atlantis Commanding Officer, Gen. Abernathy, requested our assistance. The General reported that Atlantis base lost contact with one of it research sites, and was unable to establish a wormhole connection. This base was established on a planet that had no gate of it own, and had an orbital gate from a dead planet placed on it's surface, as to keep the site off local radar, it was established beyond "reasonable" reach of the nearest space gate.
Apollo began attempts to establish radio communications with the base, there was no response. Surface scans detected a large area of debris emanating from the location of the site, and radiation that is associated with the destruction of a Stargate.
A field team was beamed down with orders to retrieve anything that could explain what happened. They were able to recover 5 of the sites information storage units. One them being them being the back-up unit for the security system.
All units suffered extensive damage, the research information will be left to Atlantis Base teams to recover. My staff began recovery of the Security unit en route to Atlanis.
The information recovered was heavily fragmented. All that we know is that shortly before the destruction of the site, an incoming wormhole was established with the base, and the shield was raised.
Based on the few stills of video that were recovered an intruder was able to pass through the gate shield and engage the sites security team.
Beyond this we can only speculate what caused the destruction of the site, or how the intruder was able to pass through the gate shield.
