Panini launch G.I. Joe comic with new UK material

Postby Sparky » Fri Sep 25, 2009 12:42 pm

Hey all - I've not seen this mentioned. Panini have launched a G.I. Joe comic with new UK material. It has new material based on the movie universe, and has a free gift on the front of the book. Issue 2 is in the shops in the UK now. Issue 3 is to have a wristband with a Arashikage symbol on it.
I've not bought the comic as the material looks to be firmly aimed at kids, but the art is suprisingly good.

that's pretty cool. I remember hearing Panini got the license but never heard what they were doing with it regarding new stories. Part of me assumed they would simply be reprinting the IDW stuff. Wonder how hard it would be to get them shipped to the U.S...

...and now the UK ROC comic has been cancelled, after only six issues. Oh well...slim pickings for the UK from the G.I. Joe world.

Well, on the bright side, since it was only 6 issues there may be a better chance of IDW reprinting it here in the US.

Is it worth reading?
"Your God person puts an apple tree in the middle of a garden and says
do what you like guys, oh, but don't eat the apple. Surprise surprise,
they eat it and he leaps out from behind a bush shouting `Gotcha'. It
wouldn't have made any difference if they hadn't eaten it."

"Why not?"

"Because if you're dealing with somebody who has the sort of mentality
which likes leaving hats on the pavement with bricks under them you
know perfectly well they won't give up. They'll get you in the end."
