My First G.I. Joe

Postby FuzzHead » Sat Dec 08, 2007 9:24 am

This was my first G.I. Joe, my brother had him first and then gave him to me in the early 70's. This guy has has been in our family since 1966, he has never been re-strung or had any parts replaced. Just cleaned up, and given new clothes from time to time. I am amazed he is still holding together after all these years ,considering everything my brother and I put him through! The clothes and DT are from a classic collection figure.

That's so old school, bro! Awesome. Love the background on your first Joe. My first was an AT Joe, and I only have some of the retro "'60s" Joes that came out a few years ago. Gotta post some pics here.

These Joes are what started it ALL! Hope no one forgets that!

That's the one that started it, it was mostly AT stuff after, then SuperJoe. I collect anything G.I. Joe now though.

question: does that joe say anywhere on it, that it was made in china????? this isnt the first time i have seen a 60's era joe, but i wasnt sure if it was made in the u.s. or china, either way, look at the craftsmanship.....everything is so basic. no computer generated expression or face and look how well it has stood up to the test of time.....bravo for keeping it....

It is stamped Made in the USA. Its sad really that we don't make many things here anymore. I got the figure down and compared it to one of my Classic Collection Joes and your right Destro, the attention to detail is far better in the older figure.

Hahaha! Thanks for sharing that! My first Joe wasn't technically my first...they were my uncle's that he outgrew and got relegated to Barbie-boyfriend-fodder. LOL! One had black fuzzy hair and a beard and was missing a hand...looked a lot like your avatar, Fuzzhead. The other one I think was more along the lines of Atomic Man. He had an orange jump suit kind of thing and was missing a foot. I played with them more than the Barbies. ;) No idea what ever happened to them, but my mom still has the fuzzy-headed one's camo shirt.
