If G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra hits it big...

Postby Templar » Thu Feb 05, 2009 4:58 pm

...And everything with anything resembling a G.I. Joe logo sells like hotcakes, you think we'll see any sort of revival of the S6 line?

Man...I really really wish that would happen. I just don't know what this line is in the eyes of Hasbro. Was it a flop to them? Did it have potential, and they want to do something else with it later?

If it did come back, I'd say it would come back with the same style but as something else. Sigma 6 itself (the story line) is long gone I think, but hopefully we'll at least see the toys again. I just doubt it.

I mean, we've already got two lines out there with the small guys and the big guys. I just don't see what's in it for them to bring out another size to compete with the other two.
OMG I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

I tend to agree. If Hasbro were interested in reviving that scale/style/line, the ideal time would be to do it during the movie year.

Maybe for a hypothetical sequel, but I doubt we'll see them anytime soon, if ever.

Hey, quit bashing the company like that, they've told you before, no need for that.

I dont know.... if the movie makes it ... I dont know if 8'' will come back.

Right now they are in a bit 3 3/4'' high horse.

Maybe for the sequel..... maybe. :)

I don't see it happening because, deep down, I have no faith in the movie. Seriously, an action film being released in August? Not the peak of the movie season.

The only way I see S6 figures returning to the toy aisles is not as G.I. Joe, but as another toy line.

Might want to double-check that. The "peak movie season" has been getting longer every year for the past several years (starting earlier and ending later). Technically the highest-grossing film of the last eight or nine years opened outside what would have been the "peak movie season" just a few years earlier. Some other rather successful films (many of the action films) have opened all the way into August and made plenty of cash (The last "Bourne" movie springs to mind).

Please no.

I never saw Sigma 6 as a big success, the cartoon was canceled before it finished, the toys barely made it up here (canada) and then they had butt loads on clearance and they sat forever then just disappeared altogether. I can still find some of the 2.5 scale on clearance in the discount stores. :|

I have some S6, Destro and Grand Slam never opened them and I have the Dragonhawk.

Yeah, I doubt they will spin out 3 scales for the line.

if anything the 2.5 scale would be brought into effect for MASK's 25th in two years

Cops, Bravestarr, Centurians, Inhumanoids, Visionaries, Thundercats, Spiral Zone, Tigersharks, Silverhawks, all are concepts that could revive the scale but are probably best left to culdesac memories. Hasbro has no other venues for this scale, what we need is a Funskool... but hasbro learned from that exchange not to let anything out of their vault

If done in sigma scale and style I would buy an entire line of Jem and the hologram figures if it would put new sigma's out

Well, looks like we'll be getting some movie Sigma 6-style stuff, in any event. Check out the Action Battlers near the bottom of the page.

I just saw pics of those and was going to post a link. They look very S6-ish with out the articulation. Bummer.
