That's the rate for non-subscribers as of a couple-few months ago. They're now warning us to expect another "significant" price increase.

That's not entirely unexpected but it is still a bummer.

That's pretty much the consensus, give or take a desperate apologist here and a pissed off doomsayer there.

Meanwhile, I am intrigued by what you've written under "location" next to your avatar; are you moving, too? Seems like there's a lot of collectors moving and/or switching careers lately.

Any action figure is a big hunk of petroleum that is shipped using petroleum so a price increase isn't a surprise. I am curious what the next price hike will be though.

I've actually had that location in my avatar for awhile now mostly because I thought it sounded funny. I'm still in San Diego and in the same career.

Heh, the San Diego area is one of the places we're pursuing.

If you can swing the really high rent I recommend Coronado. It is beautiful and you can walk to get dinner and take your kids to the beach. There are lots of parks for the kids too and if I remember right you have one or a couple of the little kids.

We do indeed have a daughter, and that area sounds lovely. It'll all depend on whether my wife finds a counseling job. I'll either continue teaching or try to pursue writing or voice work in LA.

There is no figure more deserving of your outside shots than FISTO. In fact, if you're not careful, there's a chance he may walk away when you're not looking and roam the landscape by himself.

It's a chance I'm willing to take!

...just not to the tune of the $50 or so for which he typically sells on eBay.

Yeah, I hear you there. I don't think I'd be into this toyline if I wasn't in it from the beginning. I like the fact that I don't have to hunt for these, but the way this line is handled does not easily allow new comers! Bascially all latecomers have to pay after-market prices for toys that are mostly still new. I mean, you see that all the time anyway, but I can laugh at it 'cause I'll usually find the toys I want in the store eventually. I don't have to pay WAY over the price just to get it now. However with MotUC...you don't have any choice. Buy 'em when they come out (and fight for them on the site) or buy ALL of them in a year with the sub, or get 'em for 20 or 30 dollars more in the aftermarket.

I am amazed this line has lasted this long on those rules, but that's the way of it so far. 'Course they're increasing prices like everyone else, but I don't think that's going to hurt them as much as it may hurt Joes (but that's a whole other discussion...)

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if we get a He-Man movie before Retaliation his theaters.

Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if Hasbro suddenly produced new figures to tie into the animated Joe movie from '87... and made them 5 inches tall.

I miss the days when Mattel seemed to be stuck with all the poor decisions and bad luck.

Yeah, we at least hear from Mattel! Everyone bitches and moans about Toyguru, but the guy speaks and we hear what is going on. Hasbro seems to have shut up almost completely and they are making baffling choices left and right. It's funny; I don't even disagree with the loss of paint apps and articulation. Most of it doesn't even effect the way I use my toys. It's the dang price increase mixed with it that doesn't make sense! If you're increasing the price, then why are things still being taken out? Have they been losing money all this time?

Oh wait I said this was a whole other discussion, didn't I? BAH. More and more I am wondering if I can keep going with this hobby overall.
