Okay right off the bat THIS IS MY OPINION it's not the opinion of JBL our any of the staff or ownership.
I have had reservations about tuning a toy line into a movie since the "Street Fighter Movie" disaster. The toy line seems to suffer from as a result. The ROC movie did great at the box office but the toys didn't sell as well as hoped. Even though they had new tooling, new characters and new vehicles. Fast forward to the Renegads Cartoon it comes out on a Hasbro owned network which isn't available to everyone and the toy line isn't out at the same time. Now we are at the Retaliation point. Super Hyped Movie with Major Star Power but they have taken a huge step back with the toys??????
Forgive me I am not in marketing but haven't lessons been learned throughout the years about what works and what doesn't? Here is what works Toys that are of the same caliber as the 30th Anniversary line. New Characters or Characters that we haven't seen in years with a new look. New Vehicles that have playability. Comic books and network cartoons that show the same toys that are on the store shelves. YES THE 80's Marketing stratagy.........it worked didn't it?
What doesn't work. The same characters over and over. I know you think you need to have recognizable characters for the kids, but kids don't buy toys parents do and parents don't want to spend $8-$10 for the same figure that little Bobby has 6 of at home already. I actually heard this conversation over G.I. Joe in a toy isle. Mom- Don't you already have like 4 of this same man? Kid- Yes but this one is differant. Mom put him back and get one you don't already have. Kid- But mom I have them all already.
Spring loaded gimmik stuff, action attack gimik stuff, the same charaters over and over QC mistakes, vehicle drivers with less articulation, single pack figuers that are a step backward.

You have one of the best design teams you have ever had capable of putting out the best action figures EVER and you are tying their hands behind their back. Instead of Marketing deciding what the design team needs to design let them figure out the best way to sell the toys the design team designs!!!!!
I may not be as good as I once was,but I'm as good once as I ever was!
