First off, I apologuze for the lateteness of this post.. Monday night/ tuesday morning turned out to be a fiasco of events.

First, I realized that although I had the perfect ratio of Camoflague pants to T-Shirts (enough to not make me look like a geek, but enought for people to think Im some off duty bouncer) I was comming up short in the socks (No I DONT wear sandals, and never plan to!!!)

so off to the laundromat I go. I thought in my wisdom I could pack everything grab the dirty clothes and then just leave my apartment, hang out at moms house, then go straight to the airport.

worked ok,..except I FORGOT Both the FIGURES I WAS GONNA SELL, AND ALSO MY PAYCHECK.....AND DIDNT REALIZE IT UNTIL I HAD PASSED THE SECURITY CHECKPOINT!!!!!

SO OFF I GO TO jOECON WITH A WHOPPING 175 BUCKS TO SPEND, and a 600 paycheck sitting on my bed.....
I guess you got a shot at the heavy duty figure I was selling after all..

anyway, after beeing squeezed and compressed for 5 hours, (technically 6, I lost an hour passint the time zones)

HERE i AM IN KANSAS CITY....!!!!!!


...doing absolutely nothing!

...I think I even beat the collectoirs club here!!!! The only ones that are here are Madmac and Uncleneat, and theyre visiting family....

so with nothing to do, (and the insomnia keeping me from sleeping) I decided to recon the general area and chronicle the trip so far for my joebors:

1) If you went to Joecon 07 in Atlanta, its the same thing!

the Hyatt Crown hotel is in the Crown Center, connected to another hotel, a Mall, Parking, and ..get this. the Hallmark card headquarters! (so now you can think up a condecending remark about the convention,. and put it in a card!!!) And the center has sprinkles and a fountain to cool off in...

the good thing is.. NO CRACKHEADS!!!!!

this mall is so family friendly I'd swear a Mouse was behind this! It has a crayola center, A toystore (no joes, but they do have DC figures) bookstore, a lego exibit, a chronicles of Narnia exibit, ice cream store, candy store... and for some reason a shop that sells christmas decorations of gay mermen.... (seriously!) And apparently guarded by Alfred. E. Newman.
but seriously, the security is top notch (and I would know) a lot of themalready knew about the Joe convention, and the Borders bookstore has put up a display of all their joe books (I subtly suggessted that they add more in the comming days)

Its all connected by " the Link" (no, Odo has nothing to do with it) a large glass bridge that looks like if you were walking through the Cygnus from the black hole movie(if he tidied up) Its all air conditioned, but then it isnt tha hot anyway here.

oh,.. did I mention the Mall has free Wifi (so between 10 am and 10 pm, you dont really have to pay for the hotel's 10 dollar a day wifi. but unfortunetly, you will have to leave the Hotel to do so, so Its a catch-22. (you guys trying to scoop the seminars and roundtables will have to spring for the wifi)

The meeting rooms are big, and the exibit hall is HUGE! (the sign for the tours and the seminars is alrady up)

2) BUY YOUR BATTERIES NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

instead of buying batteries in the hood or Walgreens, where I could have gotten the double A's for like 2 bucks, in the airport they cost FRIGGEN 8dollars!!!! and in the mall here they're FIFTEEN BUCKS (for those priced, they'd better come with a condom, cause SOMEBODY is getting screwed, and it was probably me.)
Because of this, I didnt get any photos until now...

3) The Super Shuttle, isnt that super....

however, it IS Crazy cheaper than a cab, the SS office is right next to the Baggage claim when you get off (or next to american airlines baggage claim) and a ROUND TRIP is only 29 dollars (discounted if you reserved earlier)

My only gripe is that they drive you all over the universe before you get to the crown center (hey, maybe you'll get lucky and be dropped off first), Me I was dropped off LAST, and got a free exausting tour of Kansas City. I arrived at KS at 11:00 am... and got to the hotel at 12:30!!!!
Make sure you put on your seat belt, one of the drivers likes to "whip it"

4) No cheap fast food.

there are a few spots in the mall, but they also have mall prices. there isnt a dollar menue within 3 miles of the hotel.

for those driving in, however, you'll pass a denny's, Hardees, arbys, and a few other spots. I know, you're probably saying so what? well,.. none of these spots exist in boston, so Its a big deal to me... you wanna fight about it?


5) The HOTEL SERVICE IS EXCELLENT!!!

AND THATS JUST THE DESK PEOPLE!!!

they allowed me to check in my bags, and skulk around the mall and hotel , and surrounding area for hours, while my bags were safe and sound..

.... no cucumber water, thougH...LOL
and the Hotel is HUGE, if we're throwing the fgures off the roof fromthe OUTSIDE>. its gonna be crazy fun.....

and horrible.. the wind is gonna catch these babies and blow them all over downtown KC!!!

...it will be New Orleans all over again.. and me without my sidekick to climb roofs with me....
They also give you a coupon book for the mall next door, that may ease some of the prices a bit.

Expensive priced stuff at a mall???
Do they have valet parking or something? I just never heard of stuff being more expensive because it was at a mall. At an airport yeah but not at a mall.

Thanks to Toynuts recommendation. Fritz is now King Of Pain's official eatin' spot for joecon!!!!

not only is there the cool stuff he mentioned, but I TOTALLY wierded out Lanny wavin at him and his family... while wearing a paper train conductor's hat!!!!!

(this will probably be my LAST con!!! lol)

anyway, Fritz's has GREAT food!!! and cheap! I had a 3 dollar burger that tasted like I made it In my own kitchen!!! old school french fries, fried mushrioms... all kinds of homestyle hamburgers, hot dogs, and whatnot...

and the burgers are like 3 bucks, fries are a dollar 99....

... and that part where the train comes in and delivers your food? AWESOME>.. especially when it looks like the tray will actually DROP IT ON UNSUSPECTING PATRONS!!!!

We have double coverage today. My roving reporter, Mike AKA Torpedo, will be attending the con Tours today, getting full coverage on the tour spots, WHile I will remain in the hotel as ambassador for those arriving today....

SO far we're meeting in the lobby for the first tour, and the hotel is reving up for us, giving all a warm welcome....

unfortunetly, that loon I got into the arguement with in New Orleans is here as well,.. and he WON"T LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!!!!
