It's crazy!
First off, while it doesn't feature quite the density of gags that we have become accustomed to, this is probably the best review you've ever produced. Certainly it's the most useful, for me at least. You see, it takes a lot to make me overlook a Sigma 6 aesthetic in the small scale, but ball hips do the trick; I had no interest in this 4-pack at all because I hate hate hate ball hips. I bought one of those Iron Man figures you mentioned, and I played with him for about thirty seconds and added him to my To Sell pile. Total waste of plastic.
Well I'm glad some of 'em end up useful! But yeah, I knew I had to go over those ball joints 'cause they were certainly the most interesting part of all this. On top of that; the new way they attach is just genius. I hate hate HATE the way the ball attached to the torso on most of the current superhero figures until recently.
But you worked your magic here; I want this four-pack now. Of course, I'm not pleased about this; in the future, kindly save your more persuasive reviews for times when I am employed.
I make no promises, but you're probably safe while I review the Retaliation figures.
Some of the poses you accomplished here are amazing, and your photography continues to improve. Speaking of which...
Congratulations on the new backdrop! Your cardboard packaging dio backdrops served you well, but it's nice to see something new, and these work better for photography.
Oh I've been using that Ghostbuster house for awhile now! It has shown up in places like the
Hazard Viper (inside of the building), the
Shock Trooper, and
PoC Firefly. I use it for whenever I need a good city background, and for some reason these guys seemed to go well with the city!
Also, I too like alliteration.
High five for alliteration!
However, I don't like links; there is no such thing as too many photos in an Alexx review, so in the future, please paste the photos rather than link to them.
Fair enough. Sometimes it feels like the pics get too off topic (like the cloak thing) so I try to parse it down a bit on the loading time, but heck...there are so many pics already. A few more can't hurt! I'll keep that in mind.
As for your claim that the Animated Trenchcoat SE is superior to the Single Pack Renegades SE, I will only say that I find the latter wildly underrated. The parts coalesce nicely, and I like that you can collect him and the Resolute 7-pack SE and the single-pack "City Strike" version and the Rescue Mission version and have four variant outfits for what's clearly the same dude. I don't know why this pleases me so much, but it does.
Yeah, I may have a different view whenever I review him. I don't dislike him, but I am just enamored with the animated look to the one in this review. I wish the single packed one used this mold without the coat and with new arms or something. The single pack Renegades one is fine on it's own, but it's doesn't represent the character from the animation very well. All in all, though, my only real complaint about him is that his extra wrist length kinda makes his arms look long, but it's hard to noticed once you pose him 'n all that.
That said, that animated SS is indeed an amazing tribute to the Sigma 6 version. I only wish SE's coat wasn't such a different shade than the Paris Pursuit figure's coat; swapping 'em would be fun.
Yeah I spent a good while swapping that coat out with different folks, but I never found anything good enough to photograph. Anyway, I wish there were more Sigma 6 homages (even though I doubt this one was really meant to be one). I count the Sigma 6 universe in with my overall story, and I like how certain figures kinda...transmission over. I don't think that's the word for it. Kinda like how the RoC armor looks like the Sigma 6 armor, as if that were the next step down the line. Since the story in Sigma 6 had their special armor being compromised by Firefly stealing the tech; I kinda like the idea that RoC came next and simplified the armor so that it wasn't so heavy with exploitable tech. Everything kinda flows, in a way.
Excellent work, sir. I'll have to catch up on your other recent reviews.
Thank you! Yeah, there hasn't been a ton, but I am working on the Retaliation figures now. I forgot how much easier it is to review just ONE figure, so I've got my energy back and I wana keep trucking with these. They're a bit more exciting than I thought!
