Hasbro Q & A '08 round 5 ANSWERS!

Postby Leonardo T Dragon » Tue Dec 02, 2008 7:12 am

Straight from Hasbro's mouth:

1- Are there currently any plans to do a single pack release of some of the figures that have only seen release in DVD packs or store exclusives (Examples include: Dusty, Shortfuse, Grunt)

A - While over the long term you may see some of these figures single carded, there are no plans for this in the short term.

2 - Hasbro has improved on every vehicle over the original they've released, with the exception of the Cobra CLAW. Why was so little effort seemingly put into this vehicle?? Secondly, figures such as Wraith were released with the inability to move their arms without breaking the attached plastic hoses. Will this glaring omission in pre-release testing be corrected further down the line or will fans have to settle for non-poseable Wraith figures?

A - A good deal of work was put into the Cobra CLAW so the design would mirror the size and detail from the cartoon. The CLAW was also designed so it could be used in the DVD Battle back. As for the Wraith/hose problem, thank you for bringing this to our attention and we will work on improving this in the future.

3 - It was confirmed that the movie line will be different than the 25th line. So will we see movie versions of Characters already released (that are NOT in the movie) or all new characters not yet made in the 25th line?

A - For the movie you will see a combination of characters who have been released for 25th and some who have not yet been released.

4 - There have been a few figures showing up which previously had the dreaded 'Duke' arms but now have fixed versions which Tiger Force Duke debuted. Such figures as Clutch, Breaker, & Doc have been spotted with the new fixed arms. So two questions come to mind. First, is the mold for the old 'bad' Duke arms finished with and finally being put into retirement? Second, are there any plans to go back and "fix" previously released figures such as Red Star, Falcon, and Steeler?

A - There are no plans to go back and remake previously released figures with the new arms…but if we make these figures again in the future the hope is to improve upon them with the upgraded tooling.

5 - Will there be any type of tribute made to the Adventure team in the 25th style. Collectors have long since hoped for the possibility of a 12"-era crossover in the 1:18th scale. Considering that Matt Trakker, a character with no ties to GIJoe whatsoever, was included in the current line how likely is the inclusion of a more-appropriate character such as Joseph Colton in a future wave.

A - There are currently no plans for an Adventure Team 3 3/4'' line.
"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

I think Hasbro and the Club might not be on the same page with this info.

What Hasbro puts out, and what The Club puts out, .... are actually two different things due to the Club's Exclusive nature. The official answer is 'we wont see any adventure Team figs in RETAIL.

one of the reasons why hasbro answered that theyre not putting out any female Vipers anytime soon, yet the club already did it in 07.

Lastly, the club exclusively molds in the old O-ring fascion, while Big H has the 25th design on lock.

so we wont see any adventure team in 25th scale,.. but we will see them in O-Ring scale (along with Dr. Venom)

This answer would have been better if they just came straight out and said YES OLD DUKE ARMS ARE D-E-A-D! I don't think they'll use them again, but they didn't actually said they wouldn't.

This group of questions and answers is probably the most hohum group we have ever had. One almost thinks that either some totally different person/people is answering these this time, or else the lawyers are coming and clamping down any types of answers before the movie next year.

Of course I can't blame everything on the answers and I must admit most of the questions were ho-hum too, which means its also my own fault as I didn't come up with any suggestions. :(

On a side note, I am sort of surprised that there wasn't really any purely movie related question asked in all of the questions that have been posted online so far for this batch. I guess we are just all in a big boring lull in information flow and we really haven't expected much either. Something tells me that we could have a VERY long spring and summer.

Okay, I found a set of questions that had a couple I liked or at least had hope for something sort of new?

http://www.johio.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1119

The one I find most re-assuring for at least a long shot of things to come...

JOHIO: During one of the previous round of questions, it was mentioned there would be a big announcement about releasing smaller playsets; since this is our last chance for the year to ask about it, is there any word on this?

HASBRO: We are not ready to make an announcement on this. After all of the fan feedback on mini-playsets we have gone back to see if we can find the original tools and deliver. Right now the search is still on, so no announcement is coming today.

Raving Toy Maniac wrote:1. Since toy prices went up due to the oil going up, now that the oil prices came DOWN... will toy prices go down as well, or will Hasbro keep the newish higher prices for GI Joes?

Hasbro Answer: Price increases were a result of increases in shipping, plastic costs, labor costs, increases in steel, and increases in packaging prices. Thus, it is doubtful we will see a price decrease in the near future.

STEEL?! Wow I didn't think those screws cost THAT much!

The Fwoosh has gotten in on the act...

1. It seems some of the more popular Joes have been re-released recently. What plans do you have to keep re-releasing older, harder to find figures in upcoming waves?

We are constantly striving to find the right mix of getting new figures out to shelf while popping in harder to find figures for the fans. You will continue to see some of the earlier 25th figures in 2009.

2. Which unique characters that come with vehicles may get a single card release, or maybe a two pack release?

Usually characters are chosen for vehicle sets because they are not strong enough to stand alone, but do well with the vehicles. Thus, no plans for releasing the vehicle drivers as single packs.

3. Are all orders that met the deadline for Doc going to be filled? What plans are there for the next mail away figure?

As of today, we have enough figures to fill all the orders. We want to keep the mail away special and will not be doing one in 2009, but will look at 2010 and beyond.

4. The upcoming 5 packs of Joe and Cobra figures seem to have fixed all the problems that people had with the original releases. What other figures that fans have had problems with may be up for an updated fix?

The Hall of Heroes figures are the fan favorites that we were able to give upgrades and updates to. You will love them!

5. Any plans for playsets or maybe a "build a scene" pack in with new 2 packs
in any future plans?

There are no plans for build-a-scenes or playsets prior to movie.

I thought question #2 was quite rude and overly nerd-angry. Could we (the Joe online community) please maybe be a little more polite to people taking time out of their day to answer questions for us?

Honestly people, if we act like adults, maybe we'll be treated like adults.

I have a couple of questions for round 6:

1. Will new DTC characters like Major Barrage and Munitia be included in the 25A lineup?

2. Will movie figures be available in New Zealand and other countries where there aren't any G.I.Joe products?

I bought Wraith from smalljoes a while back and I had the same problem with the arms, so I'm glad I'm not the only one. Having said that, the joints would have become more flexible over time (hopefully), and he would have been more poseable.

But look on the bright side: at least he doesn't suffer from "floppy limb syndrome."

#1 was answered in previous Q&A's, they said no.
#2 was also answered & I think they said yes I'm not sure if it included NZ. Mercer lives in Australia & he has said Joes are showing up there.
