2008 Q & A Round 3 Answers!

Postby Leonardo T Dragon » Mon Aug 04, 2008 12:21 pm

1)It’s been stated before that once the movie merchandise is released it will be the focus of the GIJoe line. Will the A Real American Hero-based comic packs continue to be produced after the film’s debut or will those be shelved in favor of movie-oriented material? (This could be a great way to appease the long-time ARAH collectors.)

The plan for the movie line is to dedicate all resources to a movie focused line and rebuild the brand to what it was in the 80's. Our partner IDW will be working on a comic that is movie based but will have all your favorite characters from the 80's.

2) Has any thought been given to releasing “unmasked” or “removable helmet” versions of characters that have traditionally been released with sculpted head gear? (I’m referring to characters like Airtight, Barbecue, Copperhead, Snake Eyes, Destro, Beach Head, etc.)

We just revealed an unmasked version of Beachhead at ComicCon. No plans for the rest of the guys.

3) Your commitment to giving collectors Anniversary-sculpt original 13 characters is much appreciated. Are there plans, however indefinite, to give characters that share the same head sculpt new ones, that better fit the classic characters?

Our plan is to finish doing the original 13 before we start talking about going back and making different versions.

4) Especially now that Hasbro has the pre-cut file cards in the vehicle and comic packs, as well as vehicle file cards, I'd love to see a plastic sleeved book to be able to hold as many file cards as you have. Much like a baseball card book, is there any chance we could have an official "G.I. Joe Personnel and Vehicle Database" to collect and protect our file cards??

Great idea. No plans for this but we appreciate the feedback.

5) Every year at the various conventions, the GIJoe design team is seen wearing some truly awesome GIJoe-themed shirts? Is there any chance that Hasbro might make these available to fans through HasbroToyShop.com or through GIJoeClub.com?

While there are currently no plans for this, we have heard a lot of folks at the convention this year ask for the same thing and are speaking with our friends at HasbroToyShop.com about this.
"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

There's 51 of us now? What are we, Freds?

Some decent answers this time. Still a lot of dodging and non answers, but not as bad as seen previously.

From Hiss tank.com
5) Will we see G.I. Joe Movie Teaser Figures like Hasbro did with Transformers?
It is too early to start releasing details about the movie line…give us
a few more months to finalize the plans.

Uh huh... given the lead times necessary for production and marketing, they already either have the plans in the final pre-production stages or it's not gonna happen. At this stage it's the typical Hasbro non-answer.

Oh and Smokes, the only thing they've tuned out is Big Lob requests...

So did the rest of the sites on Justin's page not turn in any questions this round or what?

YoJoe and Figures.com are both coming...several other sites didn't submit questions from what I can gather. I think SDCC had something to do with that, since it was going on while the Q & A was in submission phase.

Well that's three or four wasted opportunities for Hasbro to do some more ducking and weaving.

Out of curiousity, how does Hasbro decide who they will accept questions from?
