Hasbro 2009 Q & A Round 3 Answers

Hasbro wrote:1) Star Wars collectors are able to purchase blank figure stands with labels. Is there a chance that G.I. Joe collectors might be able to do the same at some point in the future?

While there is no plan for this, we will look at this as a possibility for a future JoeCon item.

2) Will the DIC cartoon Run of G.I.Joe be included in an eventual DVD release? Also, will we see G.I.Joe Extreme and regular season run of SIgma Six cartoons on DVD as well?

The plan right now is to get out the first series this fall with Shout Factory. Based on the success of that DVD, we will look at the DIC series.

3) Since the TRU Viper set was canceled, could we see Mercer's sculpt tweaked and released, single-carded? Maybe perhaps add the other Renegades to the mix also?

There are no plans right now for Mercer or the other Renegades at this time.
"Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Here's mine:

1- Can you please clarify why you allowed for a diversion from the standard history of the 'G.I. Joe' canon by the movie studio and/or writers? (i.e.-the Duke/Baroness/Cobra Commander 'past' and the *hinted at* amorousness of Ripcord/Scarlett, just to specify a few)Thank You.

The goal of the G.I. Joe movie is to reinvent the fantasy for a new generation of fans. In order to do this, the writers felt they needed to expand certain elements of the G.I. Joe fantasy. Working with the studio, we tried to capture the essence of the 80's G.I. Joe vs Cobra saga while telling the best story possible.

2- 'Resolute' figure prototypes were strewn across Ebay recently. This goes to proving that the 'Resolute' toyline is still in the works. Will these figures in 'Resolute' style be packaged in single packs or the 5 figure multi-packs, and will they also coincide with the release of the cartoon on DVD before the Christmas season (or before the *rumored* second season)?

The team is looking into a Resolute pack for 2010, but is not ready to announce anything quite yet.

3- The 'Promotional Blitz' surrounding 'G.I. Joe-Rise of Cobra' has begun. Can you please shed some light on how invested you (and the studio) are in future installments? (We do know that the primary actors have been signed for a 3-picture deal) But what is the *bottom line* regarding this long standing property-will it continue regardless of box office receipts?

G.I. Joe was the first action figure and after 45 years will continue into the foreseeable future. It is already a pop culture icon! Of course, Hasbro would like to see the new re-imagining of the G.I. Joe brand become embedded in pop culture and kids' lives...much like the new version of Transformers. It is also worth noting that a successful line of movie toys will allow Hasbro even greater flexibility and resources to explore future "classic" toy expressions.

Cool, my question got picked. I hope if they do follow through and make the stands that they make some available to people who can't attend JoeCon.
