Okay couple new ones while we're waiting for the results of the CAC contest. First up Lowlight. Always liked Lowlight. Not so much his character, as his figures. V1 is just a classic mold and color scheme (although his pig-nose head leaves a bit to be desired) and the v2 fig is one of those great under-appreciated gems of a mold. So, nothing here real revelutionary. Went with the jacket/sweater combo as a slight nod to the tunic/shirt combo of the v2 fig. Going back and forth on whether or not to do a beard like the V2 fig.
Okay, Airtight is one of my favorite figs. I always loved the specialist guys like Airtight, Blowtorch, Barbecue, and Wetsuit. Not always the most useful guys, but great toys. I've been trying to put together a decent Airtight fig for a few years now. Count me in the cam that thought the DTC proposed Airtight fig was a fig best not talked about. Tried all kinds of part combos apnd paint combos, but never really liked how they were progressing. Alyosha's really keen Sci-Fi custom using the Wet-Suit torso started me down this road, and the Steel Brigade helmets seemed serviceable enough so, voila! And, why, oh, why is yellow such a pain to paint with?

VERY cool interpretation of Airtight, man. Original, too! Lowlight's good, but there's something about the browns that don't sit well. Maybe they don't mesh with the black as well? I don't know...
But dude, I love LOVE LOVE the Airtight. Very sharp!! _________________ Makes you want to taste the rainbow!

The Airtight figure is awsome, but I've never been a fan of the half a jacket look that Lowlight is sporting here. Everytime I see that, I can't help but think "what's a matter? Can't find clothes that actually fit?" _________________ *insert something witty here* |

You know, originally I was going to extend the coat and the brown was going to be black. But I've extended the coat on a couple of my figs already, so leaving it as is actually gave me a bit more variety, and the straight grey/black color scheme is way too boring. Considered using olive green as an accent color, but Lowlight seemed more of a leather kinda guy. Maybe I should work in that dark turquois color like on the V2 fig. _________________ . . . and a bottle of rum!

Both look great. I like that parts choice for Airtight. The dive suit looks the part of a chem suit.
Leave the beard off Low-Light. Never cared much for the beard and dark haired version of him. I see what you mean by the "leather" look of his boots and belt..it looks good.
Again, great work as usual. |
