ok I've had the destro figure for awhile now, and well I've noticed on mine the crome paint on his head is starting to rub off Shocked I don't play with/pose him rough so my question to you customizers is:
what paint did they use when they did his head and where can I find one that matches?

thanks everyone

Nick

Well, there are plenty of chrome paints out there, none of which Hasbro used.

They probably (i'm pretty sure about this because they have in the past when it comes to chromed parts) used a heat method to affix the chrome to his skull.

If I were going to repair it, I'd probably strip the old paint off. Then pop his noggin off. After that, I'd prime him with a FUSION White or even their Silver (I forget its weird name.) After that, I'd apply a Chrome paint color, let it dry, etc. After all was dry there, I'd paint on the details (eyes, etc.)

If you wanted a two tone effect like the show and/or figure, I'd use two different undercoats and even maybe two light sprays of varying chromes. Yes, there is more than one chrome out there.

Just ideas. I haven't extensively worked with the chrome paints however. I just know it's easy to put paint on paint - especially if the chrome is enamel - it won't dry properly on vinyl/plastic. The fusion will and thus, makes an excellent basecoat. In fact, i'd spray them within 15 minutes of each other (ie, the dry to touch time for fusion, but it hasn't completely set.)

Anyone else got ideas?

Dear Joe forum

Wait... are you saying the destro head is plastic like the other heads and will boil and pop off? I thought it was made of some cheap hard plastic and solid that color... Anyone boiled and poped this head? does the chrome peel off and reveal a plastic like the other heads?

Curious to know in Indiana

well like I said before it has been rubbing off and now you can see the plastic underneath so yeah its plastic with crome on it.

I guess asking that was sort of redundant... I guess I was just suprised to see it was plastic like the other heads and not some harder plastic that was chrome colored or chromed over.

I'll have to get one of these now and tear his head up. He's one of the few I haven't bought so now I have a new figure to nab. This will be an easy one though, he seems to be everywhere.

Wha-?

Right, now you've got me all paranoid. If his head paint is wearing out then I say trash the fig. Sigma 6 is too expensive to have paint or design flaws to keep rebuying figs.

I've already had to buy two TR and KK v1s becuause of paint flaws and rubbing problems, but the Destro fig is a commando...
