I saw it Friday night, and I dare say, it might even be better than The Proposition. Even though it was a remake, it had enough classic elements to make it a great western, yet it was modern and fresh enough so it didn't look like a a clone of all the others that came before it.
The diretcor (James Mangold) also did a great job at balancing Bale and Crowe, because it would be really easy for one to overshadow the other, but it was not the case in this film.
As a side note, it was also nice seeing Alan Tudyk (Wash from Firefly/Serenity) back on the screen---at least in something I've seen. _________________ "Deadly force should not be used to stop a suicide attempt." Crisis Management, Wisconsin Department of Justice Training Guide. Well duh!

I sure hope its better than the Proposition... that is two hours of my life I will never get back.
I am really looking forward to seeing this. I doubt I will get to see it in the theater though. I'll probably have to wait for DVD. _________________ Learn the TRUTH about how the current administration in Indianapolis is destroying this wonderful city!

Really? I thought The Proposition was a great film. Sure it initially threw me being in the Aussie Outback instead of the American West, but I still really enjoyed it.
At any rate, the two films may be westerns, but are worlds apart in tone and theme. _________________ "Deadly force should not be used to stop a suicide attempt." Crisis Management, Wisconsin Department of Justice Training Guide. Well duh!

| Loved The Proposition. Loved Open Range. Loved Unforgiven. Can't wait to watch 3:10 to Yuma! Btw, anyone watch Seraphim Falls (another 'modern' western) and what did you think? |

Unforgiven was great. Open Range was ok. I watched Seraphim Falls recently and I didn't think it was anything spectacular but I enjoyed it. The crap Pierce Brosnan's character went through for the first 30 minutes - wow.
But, I keep seeing these commercials for 3:10 and I am trying to figure out how I can get to see it in the theater... although Superbad still is my priority movie to get to if I can get to a theater to watch a movie. _________________ Learn the TRUTH about how the current administration in Indianapolis is destroying this wonderful city!
