Ok, I admit it. I'm hooked. As a soon to be 48 year old boomer (birthday is Saturday the 28th), I've been there since the beginning. Got my first 12" Joe back in the mid '60s. From then on it was the usual route, right through the original Adventure Team in the 70's. I sort of missed the whole 3 3/4" phenomena since I was busy earning a living in mainframe data processing (and foolishly assuming that my Joe days were behind me). Well, fast forward a couple of decades...
I tried.. I really did... but they grew on me. They were odd looking... on the runty side and in weird proportions compared to my trusty 12" compatriots of my youth .. but they grew on me. Finally, the urge was too great. I succumbed. Those ^%$ little 8" Sigmas won. Hearing that they were also doing the Adventure Team in that scale clinched it.
Now, I'm only missing a few (including version1 Cobra commander, Zartan v1 and Wetsuit.... I'll find you dammit!)
I'm old (well, middle aged), cranky and have this site as my home page... I am once again a Joeaholic...
(and I have a VERY understanding wife....)
Nice to be here guys! |

So the Sigmas brought you back, huh? Can't say that i blame you. I wasn't around for the originals but as a kid i was avidly into the 3 3/4. Fast forward to the end of 2005 S6 hit and out of nostalgia i pick up V1 SE, and that's all it took.
Anyways, Welcome Aboard Mate and more importantly Welcome Back! _________________ SenorVandal AKA VandalSensei, RancidVandal, Veritas, V3RIT4S.

Cool, I'm not the oldest here! My first Joe was a talking fuzzy head Adventure Team Land Adventurer, so we are cut from the same cloth, you and I!

I think I like you...lol
I'm not QUITE in your age bracket... (34)... But I did play with my uncle's beat-up-missing-a-hand-fuzzy-head-bearded-Joe when I was a wee'un. And a brown haired (not fuzzy) guy (missing a foot...lol) with an orange jump suit. So I guess you could say my obsession started then, too! And maybe it was the fuzzy headed bearded guy who started my completely insane obsession with Shipwreck...cuz, in retrospect, they looked similar! lol.
Well, welcome to the further madness that is GI Joe, Sigma 6 and otherwise! _________________ It's amazing what one can do when one doesn't know what one can't do. -Garfield the Cat

Thanks for the warm and hearty welcome (and birthday well wishes)! I can tell already that I'm going to like it here.. I'll just stow my gear here in an out of the way place...I assume I can park the Troubleshooter in the back. I promise not to fire the lasers at night and don't worry, the monkey doesn't bite since the accident with the cobra (poor thing). Ah yes, the ramblings of an old adventurer ... (Cobra Commander? $#@ it, I knew him back when he was just Cobra Corporal!)
I hadn't checked the online Sigma presence since the line originally came out. Nice to see that the flame wars have seemingly died down. (Hey, if a hard core 12" afficiendo like myself can "come around", anybody can!)
I have a ton of UPS deliveries coming this week (BBTS, HTS etc..) and am expecting an Ebay avalanche from the mailman as well, so my pre-birthday celebration is well underway. Discovering this board at the same time is an equally valuable gift.
Nice to see, that there are at least a couple of other "vintage age" collectors out there too (age of the collector, not the collection!).
Now to settle in and start scanning message threads ... |

Okay-ya got me by almost a comfy decade (I'm 38), but I proudly had my AT Air Adventurer as a kid and have developed it into yet another unnecessary passion!
Welcome aboard-there's a whole world of wonder out there for Vintage and AT fans! |

Hey Sigma Adventurer, you can park the trouble shooter next to my yellow ATV, I'm new here to, seems like a great bunch of people.
