I am an old game collector since the games where new

somewhere I still have a maufacturer's copy of the classic GI Joe game for the Comadore 64 on 5.5 floppy disk

a campy infinite game that pitted you in either one on one combat or vehicle dominance

as the Joes you had a roster of

Duke, Scarlet, Recondo, Snakeyes, Spirit, Torpedo and other 84 era joes
Clutch in the Vamp
Ace in the Striker
Wild Bill in the Dragonfly
and Thunder in the Mauler
vs

Cobra Commander and his one hit kill laser pistol
Major Bludd and his rocket pistol
Destro and his wrist rockets
Baroness and her machine gun
Firefly
and Stormshadow

the one on one had interactive elements from Fangs taking pop shots at where you where last standing to a SNAKE armor that attacked the opponant of the last person to hit it

to rescue your captured troops you had to run vehicle missions

the vamp had guided missles
the mauler had dual mobility and targeting with the powerful turrent
both hindered by the environment's trees and often victim of rattlers

the striker was fast and had infinite machine gun fire
the dragonfly didn't set off heat seeking missle pods

no matter how many times or what order you defeated the CObra's in they always managed to escape while bringing the last one in, and thus a never ending game

but much more satisfying in the sense that the indiviual characters where catered to in both image and ability

the next one I had the misfortune to have was for the Atari 800
where you guide little pixel men across what seems like a bridge avoiding the spit fire of a gignormous cobra idol... yeah...

next was for the NES a "get tough" era game with all the same style of a megaman adventure, I had it breifly as it was the last game for the classic nes I had as it was the result of a fire... two days after buying said game all I remember is I hated fighting the Ice Sabre, but it had the marketing of everything on the TRU shelves at the time and did make me like the brightly colored Snakeyes a little more

aside from those I have only in passing heard of an arcade Joe game and nothing else in 3 generations of game consols

where is the Joe game for us
today?

nothin on SNES, Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Sega 32x, Turbographics, Lynx, Nomad, gameboy, gameboy advance, DS, n64, gamecube, ps1, ps 2, xbox, dreamcast

if they can make a game about SPot from 7up or the blue Brothers or even the Olsen twins we need a next gen Joe

be it in the X-men legends gauntlet style
fps call of duty/halo gen or
my personal favorite Dynasty Warriors musou format
christ if there is only one reason to get a ps3 it's Gundam Musou, costs $60 to import, no english and I'm not even a gundam fan and this rocks my face off

give us something

even Friends got a game dammit!

I played the BF1942 mod. Now someone needs to do a mod for Company of Heroes.

I wish someone would make one for Battlefield 2.
I changed all the bot names to the regular declassified names. That bot Marvin Hinton is really annoying! Laughing

hahahah yeah I wish too. It's not too difficult to make mods if you have done that before. well as long as you are doing a complete rewrite. Making new skins and models isn't bad. Just the scripting for certaing affects if thats what you want is bad.

I don't know. One of the custom maps they made had all the cobra trooper bots just standing around in formation. Brought tears to my eyes. Then I opened up on them. Very Happy

I don't remember if they got the trouble bubbles working, but we had skyhawks, fangs, Asps, whirlwinds, Vamps, stingers, maulers, cat's, night ravens, conquests, Hiss, ect. Driving those things was the shiznit! They based it off the cartoon, so the guns were lasers. Which made it very easy to spot snipers, if you didn't move often. There is nothing like hiding in an ASP or Whirlwind and blasting the crap out of an unsuspecting fang pilot on take off.

you would think with the 25 anniv. it would be the PERFECT time to release a new joe game. if its half as good as the new transformers game i would be happy.

or even, dare i say... MMORPG? Shocked

New TF game wasn't that bad in my opinion.

Personally, I'd love to see the Joes in a new Third Person Shooter that plays similar to Rainbow Six Vegas. (yes, I am aware Vegas is a First Person Shooter but I think it would translate to a Third Person Shooter perfectly)
