I can pretty much bet I won't be there this year as well... but man, you can't let a wedding two weeks away stop you. As KuuKuuson can wittness, I hauled it to last years Joe Con Thurs and Friday and got married on the other side of Louisiana on Saturday. It is always possible to make joe con with a wedding over the horizon. And No, the wife didn't mind; I got all my wedding stuff done, hired someone to help her and hauled to to New Orleans for a 3 hours high speed bolt down I-10 Wednesday (I had to get in some quality time with family). Friday, I went to the early morning stuff at the Joe Con, packed my junk in the car and hit it back on I-10. Made it home just in time to take a nap, shower/shave, and make the rehearsal. All the while, the wife was happy and calm... kid you not, the priest said she was the calmest bride ever... Yes, I am the master |
Yay, man. I remember this story from last year and the then girlfriend thought you were nuts, I just thought you were dedicated. The thing is, you were at least in the neighborhood. For me, I'm either looking at flying down or driving close to 12 hours one way. Unfortunately, it just ain't gonna happen this year (especially if the soon-to-be-Mrs.'s car craps out) Note: stay away from Kia's Maybe next year. |
Nuts... man, you don't know the half of it... Funny thing is my wife uses that story to let people know how cool of a wife she is and how cool she was about the wedding... takes a strong women to let her soon to be husband run off to N.O. the week of her wedding... and even stronger one to let her husband go to a Joe Con in N.O. And yeah, I was in the neighborhood _________________ Because my opinion is so important, I must post it for everyone to read.

| Okay, so thanks to some serious over-time lately, and the fact that my minor flood a few months back left no real lasting damage, I'm seriously SERIOUSLY debating going to the Con this year after all. But I was looking over the online application form, and was wondering if there's a difference between an Officer Level member of the club, and non-Officer. I'm a member of the club, does that mean I'm an Officer-Level, or is that something else, and I need to go with the "other" options? |

I believe the Officer level are the paying club members that get newsletters and a free figure, and it it not the club members that get access to the boards. _________________ Because my opinion is so important, I must post it for everyone to read.

Cool. That be me, then, as I got (one) club letter and the 12 inch figure (though I told them 3.75....). Gotta make sure nothing else is going on that week, and if not, it looks like I might just be heading to Atlanta! |

If nothing gets in the way, I will be there. booked room and flight. Gotta send in my form.
Sarah thinks I need some alone time and a trip away from here, so I am going.
I look forward to hanging out with some of you and meeting some of you and seeing some of you again; I would bring my 360 and join in with the gang if it is indeed happening, but I have to pack light seeing as I am still nursing a really frakin p!ssed off back.
Who's gonna help me take over the hotel bar for some college football! My Tigers probably won't be aired seeing as they are playing Tulane in the Superdome... it's a Louisiana rivalry... well, Tulane believes there still is a rivalry. Anyway, LSU isn't the only football I watch. I will watch any college football game, so bring your favorite team's gear.
Edit: I just checked the football schedule and LSU/Tulane is scheduled for ESPN. I would probably just keep tabs on it because I don't see it as a very entertaining game... though I was seriously wrong about the Ole Miss game last year. I would rather watch other match ups scheduled that evening. _________________ Because my opinion is so important, I must post it for everyone to read.

So uncleneat, since you are in Starkville, are you an MSU fan? I graduated from there back in 2001. |

Just for fun... I was going through some pictures, and I came across some Con pictures... So, to get some of our repeat attendees psyched for it again, please relive the past courtesy of the following pictures... No worries, banana hammocks not present:
