It had to be done, someone was going to do it, so I figured that someone may as well be me. I know you've all been wondering what the new Gung-ho would look like without his high-and-tight. Without further ado I give you the original, oh so lovable, bald Gung-ho:

And a comparison with the original:

I used a dremel and a whole lot of sanding. I also painted the mustache and eyebrows black. It's not quite as good as Justin's bald Firefly, but I'm pleased with the results.

Now THAT is Gung Ho! Good job. The head sculpt is correct if they just left the hair off. He's got the right jaw-line, curves, and bumps for ol' GH. Excellent!

"OOH RAH!"

Reno, I didn't paint the skin at all. The plastic used for the head is flesh colored, so as you shave off the hair (the painted areas) the natural color of the plastic comes through. It makes it very convenient.

Does the COBRA TROOPER helmet fit on his bald head?
The helmet that came with LT Stone?

Shocked great job!!!!! instead of the helmut, maybe you can find a marine corps cover/head gear for all those who dont pack the gear to serve in their beloved corp.

Looks good and the fact that the plastic is flesh-toned is a bonus. How does his helmet fit over the now bald head (loose or fitted)? Nice work!

I wonder if the ball cap that comes with Combat Squad Shockwave would work? Either that or HD v1's bandana.

Max, I gave the cobra trooper helmet a try and unfortunately Gung-ho's noggin is just too big to fit inside. Same with Lt. Stone's berret. Just on a whim, I also tried Sigma Strike Duke's helmet. It was tight, but it went on.

Viper1840, once I cut the hair off, the helmet Gung-ho came with no longer fit snuggly. This was easily remedied though by molding Super Sculpey inside the helmet and then boiling it. Volia! Instant snug fit again.

DVD, I was wondering the same thing about Shockwave's hat. I'll let you know when I pick one up. As for HD's bandana, surprisingly, it fits really snuggly, unlike on HD's head. It even stayed in place when I turned the figure upside down and shook him.

Thought I would supply you a shot of the two resident bald boys on the team together:

As well as one of Gung-ho with his protégée:

Well boil my grits and call me a cattywhompas, I was going to get a gung ho but seeing the shaved head I'll have to get at least two now, maybe even a third. Ahhh the shopping begins again...

Great job by the way and thanks for the photos.

Great pictures and thanks for answering all the questions. I will save the Sculpey tip for when I find them around me.

Yeah, that picture of Gung Ho with mini Gung Ho is absolutely hilarious.
But man! Gung Ho looks like an awesome figure, but he looks even better bald. I'm really surprised that hasbro didn't make him bald. Being that they're trying to keep 8 inch stuff all hip and extreme, isn't bald quite in right now? Seems like it!
