Alright, the battling is starting to get ugly, as we head to the junkyard to battle it out with the final eight. Who will walk away from the battle to fight on, and who will end up looking like they belong in the junkyard? It's getting close to the end, folks, get your votes in now!

3 Days to get your votes in. Please describe it as you see it going down.

Outback's one tough dude. But he's spent far too long out in the wilderness, all alone, with narry a woman in sight.

Scarlett, still half covered in mudd from her fight with Cover Girl, saunters up to him, and while he's trying to remember what a man's supposed to do with a woman, she slits his throat with her knife.

Scarlett Wins.

Right, because the Joes are such unprofessional nincompoops that the mere sight of a woman renders them completely ineffective. It's a miracle Baroness hasn't killed them all by now. Rolling Eyes

Please.

Outback's not stupid enough to let her get that close. He knows what he's dealing with and he knows he can't take her in a close combat situation. That being said, it's far from an easy fight for either of them. Their stealth skills are likely roughly equal, and the environment doesn't especially favor either one of them at first glance. Lots of hiding places and lots of potential to use the terrain against the opponent...if you know where they are.

It's perception that becomes the key here, and while Scarlett might be a superior close combatant, Outback is "never caught off-guard." Outback finds a convenient pile and sets up a sniping position, and puts his patience to work. Eventually Scarlett sneaks into view, still searching for her opponent, Crossbow at the ready. But Outback has hidden himself too well, and puts a few bullets in her before she recognizes that muzzle she's looking at isn't another piece of junk, but rather the barrel of Outback's rifle.

How do you pick between two red heads? Man, this is a tough one. I'm not sure who to vote for.

And he's been portrayed that way...where exactly?

Funny that a guy who's complaining about popularity being the sole deciding factor in another thread is basically using it in this thread from the get-go.

I'll be honest with you - I was joking when I laid out this scenario for how this fight went. But I didn't feel like writing up a ten paragraph description of how Scarlett's superior stealth and hand-to-hand skills would give her the win, and I thought I'd go for the lowest commen denominator on how women beat men by distracting them with their beauty. Plus, I got up at 4 am this morning, am pulling a double shift at work, and needed a little humor in my day. Maybe I need to use more Wink faces...

I agree with Jmacq1 on this one, Outback should take this fight easily and here's how.
Both Outback and Scarlett stalk one another through the pile of junkers. Finally they come face to face, Scarlett gets off the first shot but Outback uses a nearby cardoor to shield himself. The arrow pings off the door so he rises up and fires as Scarlett runs for cover to reload.

Why do I get the feeling that Outback is Jmacq's "horse" in this race. Wink

Tensions seem to be getting a bit higher as the game wears on.. but hey, that's what makes it fun, eh?

I'll be honest, I am no Outback fan... so I am going to put some effort into this one. I didn't think he should have gotten past Repeater. I think he's highly overrated & given a lot of "attributes" that basically come out of nowhere. No, he's no stooge, but I don't put him on a pedestal either just because his shirt says "survival". lol.. I've got a shirt that says, "Hooters", yet I don't wear tight orange shorts & serve hot wings. Very Happy Like ALL Joes, I am sure outback is quite capable. He's a good soldier.

On the same hand though, Scarlett is going to be all of this, as well as possess ninja skills. Now I am no ninja fan per se.. and I don't put them on a pedestal either, but if Jay is not going to include SE in the contest because he's too good as a ninja/commando, then I am not seeing a whole lotta difference here. No, Scarlett is NOT as good as SE.. but she's been around as long & has actually been identified (early on) as being more of a martial arts expert than even SE himself! If you'll recall SE first figure & FC, little was said about martial arts. Scarlett's figure on the other hand came with throwing stars & a silent weapon.

What does this mean? Just that from day #1 she has been tabbed as a soldier as well as a martial arts expert.. later to become an actual ninja. And while ninja skills are good for close combat, they are ALSO good for stealth and surprise.

Can she be beat? Sure. But I think its going to take a Joe who is much more skilled/experienced that Outback (& I don't put any credence in the "rifle vs bow" thing.. just like using Outback's white shirt against him. As soon as someone brings up the white shirt, another person jumps in and says that he's using his "NF" version uniform.. ok.. well then that's no different than Scarlett using her green 2002 version uniform that yes, came with a rifle, etc).

In case you hadn't noticed, I've been arguing pretty vehemently for plenty of different characters across the scenarios. Razz Particularly when virtually the only logic provided behind some of the votes amounts to "Oh he has a bigger gun so he wins" or "She flashes her boobies and stuns him then kills him while he's drooling" or other (to me) overly simplistic answers.

I was under the impression that this was supposed to be more than a simple popularity contest. That we were actually supposed to put a mild degree of thought into it when we pondered the scenarios. If I was mistaken, I humbly apologize. (And I'm not saying you didn't in this case, Recondo. It's perfectly possible for Scarlett to beat Outback, but just like FirstReality and the Beach-Head/Shockwave matchup, it was pretty clear where this one was going to go before it even started. It's "possible" for just about any Joe to beat any Joe. But it's more likely in some scenarios than others).

If we weren't supposed to engage our brains and actually offer thought out opinions as to who would win and why instead of just saying which ones we like better, I apologize. I'll keep it in mind for the Cobra deathmatches. I also need to go back and change a few of my votes. Rolling Eyes

Come on guys. Of course it's a popularity contest. Logic never comes into play in a popular vote. An individual is intelligent, people are dumb.

For the task at hand. I like Outback, but he's jsut out of his league here. Skill, cunning, combat skill, and overall meanness goes to the lady here. No way a glorified wilderness guide, Wink , takes out Scarlett. She's just one bad mamma-jamma.

"Fun" is different for each individual. Some of us enjoy a good reasoned-out debate. Some of us apparently just like to vote in popularity contests. When you try to combine the two, the former group (IE me) gets easily frustrated.

What's the point in debating if it's just going to boil down to a popularity contest? From my point of view, it robs this whole little "event" of any real meaning. We may as well have said "Pick 32 Joes and we'll decide which one we like the best."

In other words, it doesn't give anyone that didn't pick a "first string/iconic" Joe any real chance of "winning" (which is completely borne out by how the votes are going in this round), even though "off the wall" choices were encouraged. That should have been made clear from the beginning. That or the "banned" list should have been a lot longer.

Otherwise we could've just ignored everyone else and called it "Flint (Or maybe Beachhead) vs. Scarlett" from the get-go.

But hey, like I said, I won't make the same mistake twice.
