2007 Collector's Convention coverage of Exclusives & Mailaways

It wouldn't be a toy line w/o a series of exclusives and the 25th Anniversary line is no exception. Target will be the first retailer to boast exclusive GIJoe product, with Toys R Us following closely behind.

Target will have three vehicle exclusives-- each with a 25th Anniversary-styled driver. The Awe Striker w/ Crankcase, HISS tank w/ Cobra Soldier, and Night Spectre w/ Grand Slam will be available (assembled) in window boxed packaging in early 2008. These vehicles will feature the original sticker sheets from the vintage 80's toys. It was mentioned that some of the vehicles may have some difficulty accomodating their included pilots (the Awe Striker) but that, for the most part, the figures should work. The vehicle molds are completely unchanged from previous releases.

Toys R Us will be featuring two exclusive troop-builder 5-packs. The first is a set of 5 Night Force Cobra Troopers (1 officer, 4 troopers) in a paint deco similar to the HISS driver. The second is a Red Ninja set (1 red ninja leader, 3 red ninjas, 1 Snake Eyes w/ green pants and blue shirt, and Timber) and will feature all-new decos on the ninjas. When asked if a standard "blue shirt" five pack would be available, Neal Hoffman answered that Hasbro likes to keep the exclusive figures unique from their single pack counterparts. He did mention that the standard Cobra Trooper would be available with the red logo "at some point in the future". When asked why the Sharc was renamed the "Night Spectre", Neal replied that the "Sharc" name was no longer available but that "we all know it's still the Sharc".

Doc will be available via a mail-away promotion through the comic packs. Hasbro is currently consulting with Master Collector on an exchange rate for the previously issued Battle Points. It was stated that the comic packs will come with "something" that fans can send in to receive their Doc figures and that it will tie into the "Rescue Doc" promotion. Doc will be packaged with a different stretcher than was shown at the convention which will feature a "molded depression" to accomodate a new style figure. The Doc figure shown was a prototype and not a final production sample.
