Ah… Munitia… I’ve been waiting for this reveal ever since the Club announced her as part of FSS 8.

There are some characters that fans just find appealing, regardless of how little media presence that character may receive.  Such is the case with this mysterious mercenary femme fatale.  Munitia was initially slated to be released as part of the DTC Wave 4, a series of G.I. Joe that was exclusive to both HasbroToyShop.com and Toys R Us at the end of the o-ring era.  Sadly, that wave was cancelled along with the rest of the Direct-to-Consumer line and G.I. Joe went into a hiatus period at retail.  (Sound familiar?  The pendulum swings…)

That might have been the end of the character as far as most fans were concerned if it weren’t for the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club who resurrected the cancelled final o-ring wave in 2009 as a Club exclusive.  This version was virtually identical to the cancelled DTC version save for a color change to the character’s belt. The cowl-covered head, the hi-tech visor, and the signature bladed pistol were all intact and she was, well, pretty darned amazing in this fan’s opinion.

Flash forward to FSS 8 and Munitia once again makes an appearance at the end of an era.  At her core, this figure is build on the Rise of Cobra Lt. Helix torso which suits the figure pretty well.  (I miss the subtle Cobra logo on the figure’s torso but that was a carryover from the reuse of the 2004 Baroness torso to create the original release.)  The Club opted to emulate their 2009 release with the blue accents on the characters shoulders, belt, and leg.  I’m also a bit puzzled by the shiny silver shoes but there’s a recent precedent for Cobra-affiliated characters having odd footwear choices.

The new head sculpt looks great although I’m sad to report that the visor is most likely NOT removable in this case.  Still, she looks fantastic overall and will take her place alongside Firefly and Blackout as part of the Mercenary crew alluded to as the “HISS”.  (Seriously—it’s a thing.  It was alluded to in her 2009 file card.)

And, for those filling out their BINGO cards, here’s the full roster for G.I. Joe FSS 8:
