G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS 8 Fast-Draw blasts into view!

We have our second preview from the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club FSS 8 roster and it’s Fast-Draw!

G.I. Joe Collector's Club FSS 8 Fast Draw

G.I. JOE MOBILE MISSILE SPECIALIST
Code Name: FAST DRAW
(Inspired by the 1987 action figure.)
Includes: removable helmet, face mask, revolver pistol,
backpack missile system with 8 projectiles, remote controls x 2,
connection hoses x 2, and figure stand.

NOTE: These modern era club exclusive action figures will not be exact replicas of their vintage counterparts. All images are Photoshop mock-up representations, final product, accessories and/or colors will vary!

Man… I was anticipating Fast-Draw’s reveal but I never expected it to be the second one posted!

In terms of design, I always thought that the 1987 Fast-Draw was an odd duck.  He was a guy in a heavily-padded suit with missiles strapped to his body.  Call me crazy but that’s a recipe for getting a limb blown off!  Loved the concept but the execution always left me scratching my head a bit.

For the FSS 8 version, the designer used by the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club put together a mix of parts that form a pretty awesome parts stew.   I was expecting to see some parts from the 25th/PoC/50th Blowtorch used in this build but honestly– I was expecting more.  This figure appears to use the torso armor and helmet but instead uses the upper arms of the PoC arctic Destro and the lower legs of the PoC Weapons Supplier Destro.

The use of the PoC Duke launchers was a no-brainer and I love to see them here.  To my eyes, these launchers make more sense than just strapping a bunch of projectiles to poor Fast-Draw’s limbs and hoping for the best.  Without tooling a slew of new parts, this is the best option for the missile launchers that currently exist.

FSS 8 Fast Draw comparison

The only thing I’d honestly change is the torso color to make it gray as to emulate the original a bit more closely.

I dig this build far more than I would have thought and now I’m looking forward to adding him to my shelf when FSS 8 eventually ships!

  1. Best as I can tell, the parts combo is an unknown head sculpt, 25th Arctic Snake Eyes torso, POC City Strike Destro arms, and ROC Heavy Duty legs.

    • It’s Blowtorch’s armor but that’s not attached to the torso. I don’t think that it’s the same one. Acer is likely correct– on the parts breakdown.
