SDCC Kre-O Slaughter’s Marauders Set Confirmed

SDCC Kre-O Slaughter's MaraudersKre-O Slaughter’s Marauders are invading SDCC 2015!

Back at Joe Con 2015, the Hasbro team revealed several 50th Anniverary-themed SDCC exclusives for this year’s con.  However, they hinted that one more “very special set” was coming.  Attendees speculated briefly over what it might be but, in all honesty, it was quickly forgotten in light of the on-hand items shown.  (GUNG-HO!)  A few days ago, an image leaked out that seemed to indicated that a Kre-O set based on Sgt. Slaughter was coming.

Now, thanks to the intrepid folks over at Uproxx, we have confirmation that Kre-O Slaughter’s Marauders are coming!  Not only that, but Sgt. Slaughter himself will be on hand on Saturday July 11, 2015 at the Hasbro booth for two separate autograph signings.  Having had the privilege of meeting the man himself again last year at a logo baseball park, I can say that fans are in for a real treat with the Sarge himself attending!

G.I. Joe FSS 3 Frostbite Review

G.I. Joe FSS 3 FrostbiteG.I. Joe FSS 3 Frostbite has been reviewed!

Okay, I realize that this one is a bit late.  It’s on me– as Chris, my FSS partner-in-crime, had his text to me some time ago.  Some fans might be a bit wary after last year’s “Grand Slam Gate” reveal when it comes to the 13th bonus figures but the Collector’s Club stepped up this year to complete the 1985 roster with this previously absent vehicle driver.

What did two sometimes-wordy Joe fans think of the G.I. Joe FSS 3 Frostbite figure?  Was Frostbite worth the wait?  Is he just another repaint?  Am I asking too many questions?

Head on over to the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Review Index and find out!

Update on G.I. Joe FSS & Joe Con 2015 Reviews

FSS Crimson Guard Immortal

Sigh… I hate this kind of post.  I really do.

Joe Con 2015 and G.I. Joe FSS reviews are coming.  Really.  I had photos shot for these reviews for weeks now and even have the web page built.  Joe Con 2015, Joe Con 2013, and the FSS reviews for Hit & Run, Alpine, Crimson Guard Immortal, Big Ben, and Frostbite are about 85% ready to go!

So, you might find yourself asking, what’s the holdup?

Between my current real-life job and some family obligations, I’ve just not had the time to sit down and really finish the writing.  Knock on wood I can sequester myself away this weekend for a bit and finalize my portion of the text.

However, I don’t want to leave folks hanging.  Below is a preview gallery of images from many of the G.I. Joe FSS and Joe Con 2015 reviews that will be hitting here soon.  Consider it a bit of a “mea culpa” for being so tardy.

Nerdist News Discusses Toy Soldiers War Chest

Last week, the teaser trailer for Toys Soldiers War Chest blew the collective minds of video gamers everywhere.  With its mash-up of armies both inspired by and from classic 80’s toylines, action figure collectors everywhere cheered with glee at the thought of pitting He-Man against Duke and the Masters of the Universe vs. G.I. Joe.

It seems that toy collectors weren’t the only ones that geeked out over Toy Soldiers War Chest.  The always lovely Jessica Chobot of Nerdist News offered her own commentary on this genre-smashing RTS game.  Check out the video below:

However, that’s not all. New images have surfaced from the game itself that offer a few tantalizing clues as to what exactly Joe fans might see within the game itself. Continue reading

Toy Soldiers War Chest Brings G.I. Joe to the Fight

Toy Soldiers War Chest

It’s been FOREVER since I’ve played Toy Soldiers, the video game from Signal Studios in which small toy soldiers battle for control of a World War I diorama.

Now, imagine my surprise when I stumbled across a video for Toy Soldiers War Chest: The Game of Toys Legendary Heroes edition that showcased all manner of toy lines duking it out. Imagine my further surprise when He-Man and Battle Cat from Masters of the Universe made an appearance.

However, nothing could prepare me for the tiny cameo at the end of the video, right around the 2:05 mark. Continue reading

Girls of the Finest 2016 Calendar for the USO

Girls of the Finest 2016 calendar

The Girls of the Finest, members of a G.I. Joe costuming club, are back with a brand new calendar project!  This year the proceeds are going to the USO – the United Service Organizations that provides comfort to our overseas troops!

Last year’s project was an amazing success that raised funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.  Not only did fans help the Girls of the Finest produce a terrific fan-driven G.I. Joe calendar but they also helped support a fantastic cause in the process.  This year, these talented female costumers are hoping to recreate the lightning in a bottle of last year’s project and help the USO at the same time!

C’mon– it’s a win-win!  Get a great calendar featuring the talented Girls of the Finest and help send some much needed comfort to our fighting men and women overseas.

Arctic Dr. Mindbender Review

arctic dr. mindbender

I never thought I’d own an Arctic Dr. Mindbender figure.  More importantly, I never thought I’d want to own an Arctic Dr. Mindbender figure.

When this figure was announced at the 2014 G.I. Joe Collector’s Club, my reaction was less than enthusiastic.  After all, who would want a figure based on a character’s appearance in just a few short scenes in the animated G.I. Joe: the Movie?  Plus, hadn’t Mindbender already been released back in 2009?  Was there really a need to update him?  Apparently, there was and the result is surprisingly… well, you’ll have to read the review to find out this Joe fan’s opinion!

Check out the Arctic Dr. Mindbender review in the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Review Index!
