Joe Con 2015 – No Update on Registration

Joe Con 2015

Joe Con 2015 is now 19 days away!  In the words of Homer J. Simpson: “WOO HOO!”

As of this afternoon, there has been no update on when registration will go “live.”   The Club’s last update which was published on Wednesday of this week only gave the following information:

Hello Club Members!~

LESS THAN 7 HOURS LEFT IN THE WINTER CLEARANCE SALE!  CHECK OUT WHAT’S LEFT!  ENDS AT 5PM CENTRAL TIME TODAY!

Check it out at GIJoeClub.com/shop!

Also, no registration update yet.  We are waiting on the next code push to see if it solves the remains issues.

Have a great week,

Brian

This isn’t without precedent.  For the past few years, registration has been delayed closer and closer to the actual start of the convention itself.  The reasons given typically involve updates to the system, problems with the programmers, new fix builds, etc.  Each year the fans that attend the convention find themselves waiting closer and closer to the actual start date of the event to commit to their attendance.

Ordinarily this wouldn’t be an issue except for the fact that Club offers two registration “add-ons” that are limited in number.  The first is registration for a spot in the Customs Class which takes place on the Thursday.  The second is for a chance to obtain one of the coveted “Golden Tickets“– a premium ticket add-on which provides special higher purchase limits on convention souvenir items, attendance at a special event on Friday evening, and front-row seating at all convention panels.

It’s that last item that seems to draw the more concern about being able to register.  Whether it’s used to buy extra items either for friends who cannot attend or to sell off on Ebay in order to pay for the cost of attending the convention, it’s the Golden Ticket that causes the biggest rush on registration.

In a previous update, the Club promised members “at least a day’s notice” of when registration would go live.  Let’s hope that day is sometime before April 8, 2015.
